I think you have too pass, but not because he might have Jx Qx Kx Ax. More because you might be behind. Title: Re: Help!!!! Post by: Horneris on July 23, 2006, 01:18:26 AM I think this is a pass due to amount both players have behind them.
You still have a decent amount of chips to play with if you pass this, but much more significantly you have nowhere to go in this hand. If he was All In for 780 you could definetly make this call, as hes most likely gambling with a high ace or a low pair, and if he isnt then it will only cost you 540 more to find out, but the fact is that with that amount of raise pre flop, any decent player IS going to commit you to your entire stack on the flop no matter what it brings, which therefore means your playing to hit a two outer. Also to be fair, unless hes an idiot, in a 10k Guaranteed tournament and with that raise, he has to have AA, KK, QQ, JJ, Ak or AK, so theres only a 1/3 chance your ahead pre flop, and this isnt good enough for you. Title: Re: Help!!!! Post by: Jon MW on July 23, 2006, 09:08:36 AM Agreed, I've seen so many people call big raises like this just because they've got a pocket pair.
It's definitely going to cost all your chips to get to the showdown, so why risk your entire tournament for such a narrow margin? Obviously the temptation to make some quick chips is there, but I'd peg this as a disciplined laydown. |
