Thank You. Now...off to download Lost and every episode of The Simpsons..... ( I just hope I dont have to ask for his help again with converting to a DVD (or 2).

Title: Re: Kudos Post by: Trace on August 18, 2005, 07:46:16 PM Nero Start Smart is fantastic - if you get it PM me for serial code to unlock everything!
Trace P.S. If you are going to burn to DVD - make sure you've got plenty in - all of LOST that I dl'd was .AVI files, and as there were 25 of them, I sat and watched them on my PC. Also don't forget these things can take a good few days to download depending on your connection speed and bandwidth - also if you are on limited bandwidth with your ISP - this will undoubtedly use it up fast! All I can say to anyone who does any of this - what comes down, must go up, so seed everything back to 1.1 at least. (well TV shows and apps anyway) Best Regards Steve Title: Re: Kudos Post by: mikkyT on August 19, 2005, 02:21:27 PM i thought bit torrent was shut down? How do you shut down a protocol? They (those corporate suits) are actively persuing legal action against the hosts of bit torrent information, but the simple fact is that bit torrent is a distributed content delivery protocol and any sites hosting bit torrent information do not hold the actual content themselves. The weak link of the bit torrent protocol is the fact that you need a description file to describe the data contained within the torrent and you need somewhere to host that file (a tracker). Many bit torrent trackers exist, both legally (such as World of Warcraft client update) and illegally. Bit torrent is not just a pirates tool. Shutting down one website will never kill piracy, it just scores points with the media. Title: Re: Kudos Post by: Nidavellir on August 19, 2005, 09:17:26 PM ironside theres a great little program called smartripper which will allow you to just rip the vob files from dvds and then store them on the comp and from there just use whichever program you would normally use to burn them onto a disc, although sometimes you may need to shrink the vob files but most burning software is able to do that.
smart ripper can be found here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/smartripper.cfm and actually that site its found on afterdawn is a really great site for tutorials on how to do a lot with videos and such ^_^ Title: Re: Kudos Post by: ACE2M on August 20, 2005, 03:03:32 PM The bittorrent/bitlord sites are great and easy to use.
But in case anyone can be bothered to learn how to use it the xnews app for use inconjunction with newsgroups offers phenomenal down load speed and a huge choice of material to download once you learn how to use it. The quality also depends on which newsgroup you have access to (dependent on your isp/although you can pay to use other newsgroups). This is an installation guide and manual http://www.slyck.com/xnews.php. take some sorting out but it's amazing once you get the hang of it. Let me know if anyone gets anything out of it. ta |
