Title: Crash, What a great movie, who has seen it? Post by: Newmanseye on July 24, 2006, 09:21:29 PM I just got the chance to see Crash at the weekend, and i was in awe, raceism is a tough and taboo subject for most writers and film makers, but what a job paul Haggis has done on this one, As I watched the stories unfold and intertwine i could not help but feel pity for the small minded "petty racists" and as I type this I must point out that the raceism is all around from the "white upperclass" to the "persian shopowner" and on to the "black Carjacker" and furthermore the crontrasting L A police officers who are polar opposites.
Well i really should get to the point as I am no Barry norman, If you have yet to see this movie, go rent it, or buy it from tesco for £6 its a fantastic journey in to the ugly side of humanity that most of us shy away from. Just my thoughts and It might be a good thread for other opinions. Cheers Billy. Title: Re: Crash, What a great movie, who has seen it? The 1996 film Crash was also very good, albeit f*cked up. Maybe there is something in the title! Title: Re: Crash, What a great movie, who has seen it? Maybe there is something in the title! ahh the one where people got their jollies off after wrecking their cars? I found that a bit out there, similarly with another film of the time Kids, I just founds them unappealing and a bit course, mind you it was 10 years ago and i may have been oversensitve. ;goodvevil; Title: Re: Crash, What a great movie, who has seen it? I think where crash (1996) fell down was the casting, I have never been a fan of James Spader, TBH Ithough his only good role was in manequin. I suppose I posted about the new crash due to recent bordering on racist posts, it may if anything open some peoples eyes to the diversity we face each day, and compared to LA we are not all that diverse! As well as being a great movie it has so much educational value, I would say its a must for the schools to show children the damage some silly remarks can cause. Definitely one for the DVD collection!
