Title: late night food shopping Post by: Colchester Kev on July 25, 2006, 07:20:13 AM I love the fact that we now have 24 hour supermarkets in this country, no more going shopping with the masses for me ...no sirreeee !! I absolutely detest going shopping, I really do... but it is quite relaxing to wander around at silly O'clock in the morning without being ankle bashed by 3 tonnes of laden down shopping trolley, not having to listen to screaming kids , and not having to queue for an eternity to pay for your purchases ...
Dont get me started on queueing in supermarkets ... 497 tills and only 4 ever in use ... It really knobs me off to have to queue for the privelidge of handing over cash... and then there is the queue at the ciggy/lotto counter ... 1 till and one assistant who clearly hates her job and looks at you like you have just asked if you could pop round her house and crap in her pillowcase when you ask for a couple of cartons of ciggy's that are not within reach, and she has to get off her fat arse and walk two paces to fetch them off the shelf. Anyway, I digress ... whilst wandering around in the early hours of this morning, i notice a shelf full of DVD's at the rather tempting price of 97p ... it was the usual fodder of naff cartoons and obscure never heard of movies.. Then i catch a glimpse of the cover of one called "The last bet"...the tag line was (remember, you have to read this in a really deep voice ) "when all you know is gambling, would you lay your life on the line ? It could very well be ... The last bet" hmmm never heard of it, but that fella from LA Law is in it, you know the quite good looking mexican chap, and John Turturro (The big Lebowski, quiz show) .... In the trolley it goes along with a single duvet (at £4.97, its cheaper to buy new ones than get them cleaned :) ) ... usual junk food, 12 cans of diet coke and lime ...they have stopped doing the diet coke and lemon now.. bloody typical, i liked that better. And off i pop to the till quite looking forward to getting home, unpacking the shopping, pouring myself a rather generously sized Jack Daniels and Ginger ale (Tall glass lots of ice) and settle down to watch my newly purchased bargain DVD. Well you cant go wrong for 97p can you ?? YES YOU CAN .... what a friggin waste of 97 pence, It has to be the worst film ever made, Now i wasnt expecting Oscar winning material, after all i had never heard of the film ... I now realise why!! absolutely shocking .. avoid avoid avoid .... put 3p towards the 97p and buy a scratch card, a lotto ticket, or the big bloody issue... Just dont buy this film. PS......... If you do decide to spend the quid on a scratch card or a lotto ticket, dont go to Tesco at Hythe Quay in Colchester ... to get at the scratch cards Big Bertha has to shift her lardy arse off her chair, and one of her looks could lead to a lifetime of nightmares and counselling ... Happy shopping :) Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Royal Flush on July 25, 2006, 07:37:14 AM Just been shopping aswell kev, love the late night shopping so much easier!
The problem is the checkout staff, its emtpy so they just sit there getting a nice nightime wage, you then come along and they have to do something, boy do you get the evil eye!! I swear i have feared for my life at times.... Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Gryff on July 25, 2006, 01:16:59 PM I don't know about you guys but I hear there is this underground thing called the internet thats popular with kids these days, apparently you can do all your shopping online.
I don't think its going to last though. I don't think its going to last though. when i worked for IBM years ago I mainly used to do nightshifts...man I loved the internet tesco people. you order your crap and then choose a 2hr window in which they deliver it....good times! If i didn't do that I@d do my shopping at around 3.30..the bread would be fresh and all the nightclub "I'm drunk let's geta bite to eat" sort of people aren't there either....sweet! Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Sark79 on July 25, 2006, 01:50:24 PM Sounds good this late night shopping thing. Unfortunately the area I live in the yobs would mug me and eat my newly bought doughnuts for their breakfast.
Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: MrMoves on July 25, 2006, 01:50:53 PM I can't believe people walk around supermarkets to get their shopping in 2006.
Buying any DVD that costs pence is asking for trouble IMO. Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Royal Flush on July 25, 2006, 02:39:43 PM I can't believe people walk around supermarkets to get their shopping in 2006. The alternative is having to sit down and work out what you need, far too much like hard work. "that looks ok" "ok then lets get 3 of them" Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Ginger on July 25, 2006, 03:00:00 PM Wow, you go shopping on your own? and there was me thinking that you just waited until I came over lol
;hide; Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: JungleCat03 on July 25, 2006, 03:12:39 PM lol, shopping? The last time james went shopping by himself all the mug brought back was 4 bottles of red bull and a bottle of vodka.
It was ok though, I made sure he went back to fetch another bottle of vodka. Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Ginger on July 25, 2006, 03:15:24 PM lol, shopping? The last time james went shopping by himself all the mug brought back was 4 bottles of red bull and a bottle of vodka. It was ok though, I made sure he went back to fetch another bottle of vodka. The sad thing is, that's probably TRUE! ....Sigh Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Ironside on July 25, 2006, 06:29:18 PM i went to the shop the other day (my folks were on holiday) the assitant looked at me funny when i said i didnt have a club card and i didnt want one, the good news is the young lady behind me (very attractive) asked if i would ut it on her card (well i did have £158 worth of shopping) i did and got to take her for a drink afterwards i am thinking of going shopping again closest i have come to a date in about 30 years

Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Indestructable on July 25, 2006, 06:50:24 PM But why don't you have a club card. i have a nectar card and I have thousands of points which i am saving up for a..... well i am sure I Can think of something but I have lots of points. :D

Why the need for a long glass? It holds the same volume as a tumbler, please enlighten me! Not all pubs have large tumblers though, some are those poxy little ones that are really only any good for juice. So if you always ask for a tall glass you know it'll be roughly what you want. Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Bongo on July 25, 2006, 07:01:59 PM But why don't you have a club card I'd rather keep that last modicrum of privacy I have then sell it for so little. Title: Re: late night food shopping Post by: Ironside on July 25, 2006, 07:52:41 PM i dont have a card as i goto the shops about once every 30 years and then onoly if i have too

I don't think its going to last though. I can't believe people walk around supermarkets to get their shopping in 2006. Buying any DVD that costs pence is asking for trouble IMO. I did know that i could sit here and order online, but i am not that organised to know exactly what i need and want when i go shopping, besides, i spend enough hours at a computer, its nice to get out once in a while :) Im a supermarkets dream punter ...an impulse buyer and a sucker for the B.O.G.O.F offers ... As for the DVD, like i said, i wasnt expecting a hollywood blockbuster, but 88 minutes of a medium level of entertainment would have been nice.
