Title: LCD TV Advice? Post by: byronkincaid on July 25, 2006, 03:00:30 PM I was a bit gutted this morning when I found that our 10 year old TV had gone busto overnight, but when I rang the GF she told me she's been saving up for a new one and I've got about a grand of her money to blow on a new one ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty;
We want to get a 32" LCD and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I read somewhere that you sometimes get a pixilated blocky sort of image on some LCD's. It does that on my computer monitors but my computer was built around the same time as the one on LOST so I thought it was just that, but then I was watching football on someone else's TV and the footballers were looking a bit like the characters on some of my old Spectrum games (Manic Miner springs to mind) so maybe it is a problem on some. He just bought the one recommended by his local Dixon's tho so it was probably old stock they'd been trying to get rid of for years? It's gonna annoy me to get a brand new shiny TV and then have a bad picture. Is this still a problem and if so can it be cured by buying better wires to plug in the back. Are scart leads old hat now? Is there some other way to connect my Sky + box? I realise I need to do some research on this but someone on Blonde usually knows the answers to these sort of questions. Many thanks for any replies. I bought a new LCD 3 months ago and am regretting it. The wife isn't going to be happy when i tell her we have to buy another new TV!

Title: Re: LCD TV Advice? Post by: byronkincaid on July 25, 2006, 04:43:12 PM One of the reasons we want LCD is that i don't think they give off the radiation that CRT's do. We have a 2 year old who sits too close to the telly.
I will have a look through that site Rod, thanks. The good ones seem to be out of our budget at first glance. Title: Re: LCD TV Advice? Post by: Rod Paradise on July 25, 2006, 04:49:17 PM Remember they are perfectionists on that site. £1K should get a damn fine LCD!! We're starting to see good projection TV's now at not too much more - nothing the kids can touch on them.
Title: Re: LCD TV Advice? Post by: Acidmouse on July 25, 2006, 05:04:03 PM Yep the Sony rear projection 50inch is top rated in the new wave of them. I have it and the HD screen is fine and its not too bulky.
