Title: Cars
Post by: Indestructable on July 27, 2006, 07:46:03 PM
Anyone know anything about car prices?
Mrs Indestructable has her heart and my wallet set on buying a new car and she has seen two offers. One is to buy an 06 reg now for £6590 from a dealer and this has been "discounted" and the other is from somewhere else to get a 56 reg for £6550. I am wondering if we went to the dealer offering the 06 reg how much of a discount should we go for to do the sale now eg offer £6300 now, take it or leave it type of thing. What does anyone think, or could anyone give me an idea as to how much difference you would expect between an 06 and a 56?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Buy a 'Parkers' used car price guide from your newsagent

I would assume the 06 one will hold it's value for a bit longer.

Aren't they just bringing out or just brought out a new Punto? Are these old or new shape? Speaking very generally Fiats and Fiat dealers never had a good reputation when I was in the trade 2 years ago. I appreciate that specific peoples cars have lasted for 3 zillion miles without ever going wrong and that some dealers are better than sliced bread, I'm just talking in general.

I think price wise you have the whole internet at your fingertips to price check and you can always ring a few dealers up and try to get them to undercut each other. Colour and spec and stuff all affect prices. Are these cars advertised on the internet?

We used to sell pretty cheap delivery mileage pre registered Fiats that we told Fiat were going on as rental cars so we got a big bonus but then we just flogged them. dunno if this is still going on tho.

Sorry mate, this has nothing to do with your car post.  I hope you find the one you are after    :)up

ok, today I saw a Vauxhall Manaro ( think that is the name, it had another bunch of letters after the Manaro bit ).  What a fantastic car, I remember Jeremy Clarkson liked it as well.  Here is his You Tube clip.  I think it is called the Holden Manaro is Australia.  Great car.  I want one  :D
