Title: pick the wsop main event winner here...
Post by: The Camel on July 28, 2006, 02:57:40 AM
Just for kicks and good times, who do you reckon will go deep in the main event starting tomorrow?

How about five picks each?

My famous five:

Phil Ivey
Erik Seidel
Shane Schleger
Stuart Fox
Garry Bush

Best of luck to nearly all the Brits out there...

I back myself in every event I play, otherwise what's the point?  So, me. :)

However, I just saw Ron Jeremy registering at The Rio.  I'm told he is known for his raises.  They say aggression pays so, Ron is my second choice.

4th choice - Magnus Swedishnus
5th choice - Mustapha Lottaluck

Someone told me Ram has never made the money in a $10k tournament. An amazing stat. Does that mean he's not good at multi day tournaments or that he's overdue a huge run in the biggest tournie of all?

I think it will be an unknown player.  Out of the faces, I would say the young American player Jeff Madsen looks on form right now.  I would prefer matt, pab or any of the other Blodites to win it.  I am going to look at the list, there are a lot of Blondes playing this year ( I have forgotten names to mention,  but I include all of you in my wishes for a winner ).   Good luck Blondites  :)up

Some psycho, coke-sniffing, pool hustling, self proclaimed degenerate, yankee doodle dandy I met in the Tilted Kilt last night to win the thing. (Cannae mind his name, mighta been Bob.)

Mad gambler, had $20k on Brazil to beat France. Doesn't really follow "soccer" but apparently he can't get to sleep unless he's punted money on something.

I politely declined his offer to play for $200 a ball. If he potted first, I mighta been a bit short for my taxi.  :D

Dale to finish 2nd.  8)

OK, here's my five. All of them are Brits. While this may seem daft, I'd rather pick people I would be happy to see win than any of the Yanks (although I would be happy for Brian if he won)

1. Stuart Fox - running well over here
2. Lord Wernick - not running well, but due some luck
3. Jim Kerrigan - very suited to large fields and not phased by the size of the buy in, cashed well in the $1,500 a couple of days ago
4. Bhupinder Kholi - 2 cashes out of three so far, including the Razz, which was the first time he had played it as a tournament.
5. Any of the 5 Blue Square online qualifiers - Gwion Jones, John Exley, Tyrone Kerrigan, Paul Vicary and Tony Palester.

Wow that was 4 of my shortlist, (I didn't have Williams)

I reckon that gives me another 5 to pick from  :D

1 Padraig Parkinson
2 Roland de Wolfe
3 Patrick Antonius
4 Phil Ivey
5 Conor Tate "Sealey"

Cant believe nobodys mentioned allen Cunningham- he's had a great world series so far with 5 cashes and one 1st place finish in a no limit event with 750 players,

I notice a lot of people are putting unknown qualifiers and by all probability it will be 5 unkowns in the top 5, but I thought it was 5 top pro known players we were meant to put who we think will go the furthest?!?!?!?

1. Allen Cunningham
2. John Gale
3. Barry Greenstein
4. Todd Brunson
5. John Pham

I dont think Doyle, Ivey or Helmuth will get there as I think players will be constantly gunning for them simply cuz they'll want to be able to say they outplayed one of the greats- obivously they can put that in there favour but eventually a bad beat will come along

Greg Raymer - Lots of people dont like his play but he knows how to pick up pots in the main event
Phil Hellmuth - Having a good WSOP, if he keeps a lid on things will go deep.
Phil Ivey - Similar to Raymer, always picking pots off weaker players
Marcel Luske - Always does well at these events
Pardraig Parkinson - Been deep in a few already and really up for it this year.

Cant Believe I never put money on Him- woulda been a good final table bet and a great winner bet with over 8000 players (if he wins of course)  8) Even though Gold is still 1st and has confessed he's had quite a bit of training from Johnny Chan I think Allen Cunninghams experience has to make him the big favourite

Right from before the WSOP began, I had my bet on a guy called Jamie Gold.  He was the obvious choice for me.  I also thought that somewhere in the top 10 would be- Allen Cunningham, Richard Lee, Paul Wasika, Doug Kim and Erick Friberg.  It was so obvious, I am surprsied nobody else thought these guys would do it.   ;D
