Title: Gutshot info.... Post by: Rod Paradise on August 19, 2005, 12:54:03 PM Down to Londinium on Thursday next week for a couple of meetings.
Got a few questions about the Gutshot.
Cheers in advance (if for nothing more than it'll give me an excuse to ditch the boss, a night drinking with him & I'll be up for murder or sacked!!)) Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 12:59:07 PM Much of the info is on www.gutshot.com
But for tasters, it's 44-48 Clerkenwell Road, EC1M You have to be a member, but can enrol on the day and play straight away, bring passport fo ID. I think Thursday is £50 freezeout, but site has schedule. Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 01:02:53 PM Gutshot have their own site
www.gutshot.com which has most of the info you require but you don't need to pre-register, take photo ID.... You'll enjoy it there, a nice club Leave room for a meal, the chunky chips are sensational not sure the deep fried mars bars are on the menu tho~!!! Title: Re: Gutshot info.... You'll enjoy it there, a nice club Leave room for a meal, the chunky chips are sensational not sure the deep fried mars bars are on the menu tho~!!! Deep fried mars bars are a yorkshire invention. It's deep fried (and battered!!!) Pizzas, sausages, haggis, pretty much anything, which pisses me off. If I ask for a sausage supper, I expect to recieve a sausage supper - not a greasy lump of batter! If I want a battered pizza, I'd have asked for one! Crazy scots... Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Heid on August 19, 2005, 01:07:48 PM Rod,
Let me know how you get on, I want to get over there one Saturday to have a go, but am a bit worried about going as a girlie on me own - not that I am usually funny about such things, but I am a bit trepidous. My other half has gone and got himself a season ticket for his team up north, so that means at least two weekends a month are free now, so instead of sitting around on my arse getting bad beats in the privacy of my own home, I have decided that I might as well feck up in the company of others :) Heid xx Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 01:12:34 PM Heid
There are quite a few female players there. Nothing intimidating and usually great fun. As for the food comments, the grub there is of a high standard and good value, try their burger with chips! Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 01:13:35 PM Heid, there's absolutely no need to be "trepidous" (not in my dictionary, but I get your drift!!) about being a lady going to gutshot on their own....lots of ladies play there including the very successful Sue Jones and the WSOP heroine Tiffany Williamson.
Therein ends my short stint as gutshot rep! Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: londonpokergirl on August 19, 2005, 01:21:05 PM Heid
If you want to go to Gutshot, i'll go with you, just give me a weeks warning so I can get babysitter :) Mel Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Ironside on August 19, 2005, 01:27:33 PM I can feel a blondite day out at the Gutshot coming on. Anybody else fancy this one Saturday? They won't know what hit 'em. no cause we are all in walsall where you would be if you didnt have a bbq to goto Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 01:30:03 PM I said ONE Saturday, not this Saturday. A raid like this needs careful planning and an ironside poll or two.
Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 01:30:28 PM i think he meant one saturday not this saturday
Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 01:32:16 PM it needs a thorough blonde merchandising effort too
but not blonde hair dye. except for Robert. Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Ironside on August 19, 2005, 01:33:06 PM see the difference an E makes and i was told drugs werent good for me
Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 01:37:33 PM Hmm Tight End, like that, we can all turn up in shirts and hats and stuff, we will have to find out how that is getting on. Actually saw Nick Persuad, a gutshot regular wearing blondepoker.com hat on Poker 425 the other day, he waqs at the Luton Event.
As for Es ironside, be careful, there is a bigger problem then usual with Ecstacy in Yorkshire at the moment, they are rubbing powdered version of the stuff inside their lips. It's called "E by Gum" ;D Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: RED-DOG on August 19, 2005, 01:39:46 PM Heid, my views on the Gutshot (and the food)

careful now. its about now that adam would appear with "anyone for a tee shirt" in his best enterpeneur fashion ;D and of course for the pub crawl it`ll be blondites on tour Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 01:55:06 PM careful now. its about now that adam would appear with "anyone for a tee shirt" in his best enterpeneur fashion ;D Oh no! I hadn't thought of that! (Alwight mai san, enywan for T shirt, feeeel ver qualaty!) and of course for the pub crawl it`ll be blondites on tour Could think about doing both at the same time, especially as London seems to be winning in the polls, possibly because everytime ironside posts a link to the poll I divert the thread so the link disappears into history, accidentally of course. Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Heid on August 19, 2005, 01:55:33 PM Cheers for the offer Mel, I may well take you up on that one :) A Blonde day out would be fun<g>.
Trepidous is a good word, sadly not an adjective of trepanned though :) Heid xx Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: patman on August 19, 2005, 01:57:46 PM and another thing...How does adam get the tee shirts made or tried on as he`s always carrying that guitar
does he have a live aid guitar shaped tee shirt like a motorcycle cover :D Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Rod Paradise on August 19, 2005, 02:39:26 PM Thanks folks - I'll be there next Thurs - hopefully bringing some money back to Scotland on Friday ;)
Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Robert HM on August 19, 2005, 02:45:27 PM Cheers for the offer Mel, I may well take you up on that one :) A Blonde day out would be fun<g>. Trepidous is a good word, sadly not an adjective of trepanned though :) Heid xx Scary person, wasn't trepanning the word used when quack doctors driledl through a man's skull to let out the evil spirits that made him unwell. Mining engineers had trepanners which were like huge drill bits which cut through coal seams. If you have skull drilling on the brain (yes I meant to say that) we will perhaps met you with trepidation. Bye folks off out for the night. Look forward to seeing what the 20,000 post was about. Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Ironside on August 19, 2005, 02:47:42 PM well check back to yesterday and re read it
the 30000 post is about to get posted today Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Royal Flush on August 19, 2005, 02:50:06 PM Actually saw Nick Persuad, a gutshot regular wearing blondepoker.com hat on Poker 425 the other day, he waqs at the Luton Event. That was Tikay's very own cap!! As for the gutshot food, chicken milanese has to be the best dish! Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Heid on August 19, 2005, 02:52:28 PM It was the old headache cure I was referrnig to :)
I was watching a TV prog on Ch5 last night while baiting Bob on Laddies, and a guy in Australia had to have it done when he was injured playing that ludicrous Aussie rules football. Car crash telly really - the show was called DIY Surgery<g>. Don't even get me started on the poor bloke who got his arm stuck in a winch on his fishing boat when he was on it alone -yuck! Heid xx Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 19, 2005, 04:15:59 PM As a non-Londoner, which is the nearest tube station to it?
Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: TightEnd on August 19, 2005, 04:18:46 PM Farringdon or Old Street
If going on a weekday, and it's before 6.30pm...you'll be stung for the congestion charge Park in side streets evenings and weekends Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 19, 2005, 04:21:45 PM Farringdon or Old Street If going on a weekday, and it's before 6.30pm...you'll be stung for the congestion charge Park in side streets evenings and weekends Us students don't drive, pffft. Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Rod Paradise on August 19, 2005, 04:26:11 PM As a non-Londoner, which is the nearest tube station to it? Quote Barbican is closest and u cant get lost. Out of the station, turn left. Walk upto the main junction (where the lights are) turn left again and the club is on your right 100 yards down, takes all of 5 mins at a saunter. From the Gutshot forum... Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: tikay on August 19, 2005, 04:39:47 PM I thoroughly recommend Gutshot if you fancy a nice, relaxing, poker evening with friends. And the chips (fried version) are scrumptous. A blonde evening at Gutshot? I got no probs with that, if it was an informal thing, but finding a space in the diary is getting VERY awkward.... By chance, I sorta half agreed to have a session there next Wednesday night with Jen, I am in London for 425, & we need to hook up to sort out some blonde business (agreeing the blonde Live Update Schedule for the rest of 2005), so she & I are likely to be playing at Gutshot on Wednesday night, all being well. And (SPAM ALERT) I will be playing in the SportingOdds.com London Masters, on 1st October at Gutshot, thanks to Sporting Odds.com, who have very kindly & generously (and one might add, naively) sponsored me in that on a one-off basis for that comp. I'm in danger of becoming bit of a Garry Bush-type shirt whore, that's three "one-offs" so far, as I also got lucky in getting one off deals with Poker 425 at Gutshot, & Wm Hill in Vegas. The fact that they only sponsor me the once speaks volumes about my ability....... Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Royal Flush on August 19, 2005, 05:13:17 PM I usually use the Barbican tube station.
LOL Tikay. Oh btw Tikay are you around nottingham next thursday? Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: Sunday8pm on August 19, 2005, 05:19:45 PM Yep, i agree, Barbican is the nearest tube station just come out of there turn left walk 200 yards and turn left again into clerkenwell road you really cant miss it!
The burger there is out of this world.....words cannot describe its worth the trip there just to eat!! Title: Re: Gutshot info.... Post by: tikay on August 19, 2005, 05:26:17 PM James/Royal Flush - Notts next Thursday? No, sorry, going up to Grosvenor Bolton for the "Grand Opening" of their new 100 seater Card Room. (Details later). And playing in their comp - a £5 Rebuyfest, along wijh personalities such as Jimmy White, Jimmy White, and, oh yes, Jimmy Whiote. Try getting HIM off a drawing hand in a £5 rebuy!
