Title: Anyone willing to sign me in at Sheffield?
Post by: M3boy on August 19, 2005, 02:03:08 PM
Hi

I am planning to travel up today to play in the £750 comp, but have left the membership too late :(

Would anyone there, or going to be there, be willing to sign me in as a guest?

TIA!

Hi Maureen,

Err, not exactly, no.

I was big chip leader 4 tables out, and with a display of efficiency that was clinical and effortless, I demonstrated that the impossible was entirely possible, if one believes in oneself, puts ones mind to it, and are  sufficiently incompetent. I blew the lot, with consummate ease, it must be said, & exited 20th. Oh, & I managed to do it wiithout getting a single Bad Beat, too.

Breathtaking stuff......

Now I have to return to the scene of my huge embarrassment & do the reporting for Poker 425.

"So, tell me Dave/Alan/Simon/Jim, how did the competition go for you?"

"Oh fine thanks tikay, your chips were very much appreciated".

And I won "Play of the Week" against a certain Mr Colclough, when he milked me for half my stack because I was certain he had missed the 8-8-8-7-4 board, & my pocket 3's were good. He had missed the board as it happens, and was "at it", as I suspected, with AA......A Ruling was called for, and after lengthy deliberation, allegations of chip dumping between Team Blonde were eventually rejected.

Ayya!

I left the scene ogf the crime in a hurry Maureen, tail firmly between legs, so don't know how many were left at close of play. But there were 20 left when I exited, and Dave was in very good shape. I am hoping he wins it, I really am. And if Napoleons allow me, I may try & do a Mini-Update, but no promises.

See "Red-Dog's Twin" thread for my comment on meeting you last night.

Mutual, very much so.

Actually, I made SEVERAL peoples night last night. Dave, with the Aces, Jim Reid, who took a monster pot off me when on a T high boared & clearly stealing, his TJ marginally outkicked my T-3, need I go on?.........

xx

Absolutely, but doubly so. Tongues, minimum, too.

OK, off to Sheffield now, take care.

Big thanks to everyone for last night.

Unfortunately, I exited just as we were down to two tables.

I had been struggling all night and indeed both me and hassan were the short stacks (hovering around the 12k mark for most of the competition)

I went down to 7000 with blinds 1k and 2k. Found pok 8's (one of the button) and had to get risky and get chips. I know if i go all in, they probably fold so i took a risk and just doubled the bet to 4k. Both the SB and BB called. (so now 12k in the pot) Flop came 10 4 2. I move all in SB folds and BB calls with Q2 - My pok 8's hold up and I now have 18k (the most I have had all tourney).

Its now 4am and I have nowhere to stay, the only hotels were £100 a night and you had to be out by 12. I found AQ in early position and made it 6k to play (practically committing myself). A late position goes all in. Now I am sure he has a pok pair and decide to get involved in a race. He had pok 9's and they held up. If I hit A or Q there I would of been on 39k (av of 30k) with 18 or so left.

Not to be, but enjoyed the experience. Too tight to pay the £100 for a room, so drove home at 4.30am :(

Great to meet faces again.

GL to DC today - he was stacked up when I left.
