Title: Wardonkey's Article Post by: sharpy on July 30, 2006, 09:05:18 PM I would just like to say what a good article 'Wardonkey' has written(on the homepage if you havn't seen it). The good old STT's or sit n go's, whichever you like to call them, I feel are sometimes overlooked for the more 'glamourous' multi tournaments or cash games. They are often used to quickly build a bankroll before people move on to other forms of the game.I personally find stt's to be my strongest aspect of this great game called poker and articles like Wardonkey's I find quite valuable in trying to further my ability. It's good that someone of Wardonkey's calibre is willing to share his veiws on this aspect of NL Holdem, and I for one look forward to the next installment. There are probably some aspects where I'll have a different point of veiw but I will wait until Wardonkey has finished the series of articles before I start asking questions. cheers Mike Title: Re: Wardonkey's Article Post by: Wardonkey on July 30, 2006, 09:14:40 PM Thanks Mike,
I'm sure Snoops will put the rest up soon. I wrote it as one long essay, but Snoops serialised it as it would have been a long downward scroll otherwise. I appreciate the feed back. It's the first time I've attempted any 'poker writing' and I keep thinking of things I could have put in, but I think It's long enough already! Title: Re: Wardonkey's Article Post by: leighton_87 on July 30, 2006, 09:22:51 PM I really enjoyed the article and looking forward to the next part. The advice seems very useful and it's nice that a successful player will share this sort of advice with us. Hopefully I might be as good as you in the future
Title: Re: Wardonkey's Article Post by: vegaslover on July 30, 2006, 09:27:10 PM Yep, very good article wardonkey.
I also make consistent cashes in STT's. You can also play them with a relatively small bankroll, compared to MTTs. I agree with most of what you said, bar 1 or 2 minor things, which I think are down to my own playing style. Can't wait to read the next installment. Title: Re: Wardonkey's Article Post by: Tonji on July 30, 2006, 11:06:09 PM Some excellent advice. I seem to be doing ok at my level of $5-10$ STT, playing pretty much in the manner you recommend in your article. If you've got additional thoughts Wardonkey, they to would be appreciated I'm sure.

Title: Re: Wardonkey's Article Post by: Coat on August 06, 2006, 01:32:39 PM I just want to reiterate my thanks for posting this information.
Wardonkey's article plus the one by Adam (link is in Scottish Dave's Experiment thread) led me to experiment with low stakes stts ($5) on stars. Played 11, won 6, 2nd x 2, 3rd x 1, 4th x 2. Return $171 from a $60.50 investment. This article has also made me question my rock like strategy in mtt's. Again many thanks... One of the reasons I wrote the article was to clarify some of my own thoughts and reinvigorate my own game. I was rewarded with a very good couple of weeks, so everyone's a winner!
