Title: hand from £5 pot limit re-buy comp Post by: cambo on August 02, 2006, 01:24:10 PM this is the second hand after the re-buy period has finished , blinds are 200/400 , i have 10k chips, in the last 3 hands of the re-buy i lost half my stack once with jj v ak which is fair enough other 2 i had 99 and 88 both losing to under cards who flopped 2 pair to people who were just gambling.
im a bit pissed off at this stage and im not sure if this effected the way i played the hand or not, ok so 2nd to act makes it1200 to go , the aggresive player in seat 3 makes it 3k , i look over at the first raiser -she checks her cards again and shakes her head . im 100% sure shes gonna fold, seat 5 then calls aswell but doesnt look that happy about it, ive got him on a pair smaller than mine. im in seat 7 i look down at jj, ive got no money invested in the pot, ive got 2 options either push all in or pass, ive got the aggressive player on ace queen or ace king. before his raise he has same chips as me . im looking at whats in the pot theres 4.5k of dead money in the pot if i get it heads up with the agressive player , im pretty sure i have the best hand at this stage, if i win this pot im on easy street with 25k and knock the most dangerous player at the table aswell, so i deceide to push all in, the first raiser folds aggressive player calls instatly then to my surprise seat 5 calls aswell . aggressive guy flips over ak and seat 5 has jq (no idea why he called with that) im feeling confident as i just lost a race with the same hand in the rebuy period but he flops a king and that was me out, this sparks abit of debate about how i can make the play i did with a raise re-rasie and a call . anyway thats what happened , what would you guys have done? would you have look for a better place to get ur money in? thanks in advance cambo Title: Re: hand from £5 pot limit re-buy comp Post by: BigSoti on August 02, 2006, 01:44:57 PM Not a bad play IMO, however you know that you are only likely to be called by either an overpair, in which case you are a long way behind, or by two overcards. In this case you are a small favourite but need to accept you are going to loose almost half the time you enter this particular race.
Title: Re: hand from £5 pot limit re-buy comp Post by: dan on August 02, 2006, 02:05:40 PM i would fold. to an early position raiser and reraiser and a caller i would think that jacks are already beaten. even though aggresive mateyboy is the reraiser you have to give him credit for a strong hand reraising with 7 players still to act.
you already said that you put him on AK or AQ so you already think at best you are 50/50 and you know that he is going to call. i dont think i would want to race for all my chips here. you have 10k with 200/400 blinds and could be against 3 players( the original raiser, the reraiser and the caller). i am still surprised that one of the hands didnt have you beat preflop. i think you couldve let this go and found a better spot to get your chips in against an aggresive player to your right. Title: Re: hand from £5 pot limit re-buy comp Post by: cambo on August 02, 2006, 02:17:59 PM thanks for the replys, if i hadnt lost half my stack at the end of the re-buy i would deff have passed, the fact i had just lost a race with the same hand not long before and pretty sure what i was up against clouded my judgement thinking i would due to win it. looking back its a pretty easy fold
