Title: playing live vs playing online
Post by: bhoywonder on August 05, 2006, 02:44:19 AM
ok me being mainly an online player I was curious wot attributes would you say are necessary for improving ur live game?

what online skills should be cooled when playing live?

what live skills do you need to take your A-online game and make it count?

Is there a difference?lol

physical tells? fact or fiction?

concentrating on the action when you are not in a hand is something you need to work on so it becomes second nature

physical tells are fact

learning to take your time and not rush when live, because you don't HAVE to act in 20 seconds every time!

learning to read players

this sort of stuff

Taking your time for defo, if I spend a long time playing online when I play live i'm making very quick decisions all the time. Better players can read it as a tell.

Live, you can also get a better 'feel' for certain situations, the psychologists would say that it's the unconscious info were picking up in the live environment that gives us this feel.

Don't get bored!

Live poker is so damn slow, you never get more than 30 hands/hr.

Also if you are in a tournament then as the levels go on people feel the need to take 5 minutes over simple decisions. This has the effect of making the game even slower......

In short, take your i-pod!

Taking your time to consider key decisions is the biggest one for me. You get very used to making all your decisions very quickly on-line. Also, because you can't just fire up another game you tend regret poor deciions made in haste for a bit longer when playing live.
