Title: online play vs live play? Post by: bhoywonder on August 05, 2006, 02:01:21 PM i'll make this as simple as possible
what are the crucial diiferences between live play and online play...talking of mtt's here bit of an open ended question, but top 2 or 3 tips would be welcomed On the odd occasion when i play live i find myself all at sea floundering in mediocrity, getting more and more annoyed with myself when i hit a cold run of cards. Title: Re: online play vs live play? Post by: AdamM on August 05, 2006, 02:29:12 PM for me there is so much more information available live so attention to detail is the biggest thing. I don't find patience and discipline a problem live because there's so much free information flying about even when I'm not in a hand that my concentration levels stay high.
Online, my big weakness is when there's less to concentrate on I fail to double my efforts in patience. I am not as good at reading online patterns as live, which tells me I rely on physical info quite heavily. Title: Re: online play vs live play? Post by: thetank on August 05, 2006, 02:35:34 PM Live comps tend to be tighter at the start, and looser around the bubble than their online counterparts.
Wierd that. Title: Re: online play vs live play? Post by: thetank on August 05, 2006, 02:39:42 PM I find you don't need to commit as many chips to run a successful bluff live, especially against inexperienced opponents.
I have the opposite problem to Adam, whereby I find it harder to concentrate in the bricks and mortar game. A Walkman (or it's trendy modern equivalent) helps me sometimes, when I've remembered to charge the battery. ::) Title: Re: online play vs live play? Post by: ifm on August 05, 2006, 02:40:54 PM I think table image is the most important thing live, if you are a total rock you will be bullied left, right and centre.
If you are prepared to call the odd "daft" bet or make one you will pretty much be left alone. I am also firmly in the camp of never showing my cards as a norm but if i were to go to a new casino where people don't know me i would certainly be showing the odd bluff etc. just to boost the "nutter" image :D Moving allin blind is a good one for this too, just ask floppy!!! I think the most valuable information is knowing the peeps you are up against this though comes from frequenting a place fairly often. Title: Re: online play vs live play? Wierd that. hmmm interesting is the embarrasment factor at the start the reason for tight play fear of an embarassing showdown with garbage? Title: Re: online play vs live play? Perhaps, and maybe it's an ego thing that makes the bubble burst quicker. Title: Re: online play vs live play? Online, most players arn't paying attention unless they're involved in a pot. Live, they've little else to do but watch, and so there's much more of the ol' he knows than I know that he knows palava going on. Also a fair point about being familiar with the competition. Same faces again and again at the club, and so there's much more value in taking notes. Title: Re: online play vs live play?
