Title: POKER ON TV
Post by: blonde17 on August 21, 2005, 02:15:49 AM
ANYBODY WATCHED MUCH TV POKER RECENTLY? WELL AS A RECENT CONVERT I HAVE , THE POKER MILLION WAS OK , BUT THE COMMENTARY VARIED BETWEEN TOTAL RUBBISH AND OK, MANY SO CALLED TOP PLAYERS DONT MAKE VERY GOOD COMMENTATORS OR PRESENTERS. THE WORLD HEADS UP ON MONDAYS IS DIFFERENT LEAGUE, THE PRESENTER MIKE CARLSON IS GOOD AND THE POKER COMMENTATOR PETE SINGLETON REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF BETWEEN THEM THEY MAKE POKER INFORMATIVE AND DARE I SAY IT ENTERTAINING  :)

It's just fine blonde  17. We have a thread - deep inside by now I guess - called "what's in a name", & new Members used to explain in there where their aliases came from.

You from Walthamstow, East London, by any chance?

Do you play poker? If so, online, or "live". We need to know these things, see? (It's called Market Research, or in Karabiner's case, & by his own admission, "being nosey").

Found it a bit odd. Taped it and was watching it, but switched off during the tourney. So the online players appear later? That might spice it up. Overall I'd give it 2/10 so far..

i saw a couple of minutes last night but just couldn't bear it!!
Explaining the game as it's going on is just stupid.
Also there were 3 raises before one flop and did they all hold monsters??
J7 K5 and A2.
It was just daft but as i say i only saw a couple of minutes

I tried playing in the qualifier last night, as i have done before.

There is one problem the yanks seem to take pride in knocking out the brits....so when i duly went all in for 8000 last night with AA i knew id get a yank caller or 2.

one guy called declaring in the chat "lets gamble", he had 73off and the board came T T 9 8 6

i was fairly gobsmacked and the guy just repeated HAHAHAHAHA in the chat.....made me slightly angry! >:( >:(

Anyone else had similar problems?

It was a pleasure to meet you and your Dad RFC, pass on my best wishes to him. I suppose the night deserves a mini trip report as there was a little poker involved, I'll sort one out.

Good Luck in the Final Dave.
