Title: WSOP numbers dont add up
Post by: saphire1 on August 10, 2006, 10:21:37 PM
If you add up all the chips at the final table it comes to 90,140,000 ( figures taken from poker pages )    8,773 players entered  should be   87,730,000 chip in play  where did 2,410,000 come from or where did $2,410,000 go?
mad marin brought this to my attention

do they not sometimes exchange extra chips at colouring for a chip worth more than the loose ones?

87400000 according to cp.   :D

Hard to count exactly i imagine.

Colouring up can't always be exact either is it ?

i asume the chip numbers to be exact, player have to count there chips exactly at the end of each day,and these figures are published.  colouring up will add to the total number but  2,140,000 ? no way

you also have the people that take chips off the table during small buy in comps and add them to there stack during the 10k event

mind you thats alot of chips to sneak on and off the table

From ESPN blog.....

With 8,773 entrants in the main event, there should've been $87.73 million in chips in play Thursday, but there were $90.14 million on the table.

"Racing for chips,'' said Gary Thompson, director of sports and entertainment marketing for Harrah's. "All the color-ups. We've had at least six.''

It seems like a lot of extra chips, around 3% of the total.

Can any TD's tell us what %age is usual ?

i think colouring up would add an additional 300k maximum  a realistic figure would be  130k

COPYED FROM BARNEY HENDON MOB                                                                                                                                                           A lot of people were given the wrong information about their playing day.
On day one A apparently there were nearly 200 stacks that were blinded off. Many players came back another day and got a second stack.
This was a huge advantage for day one A players who picked up a lot of freee chips and came back on day two with bigger stacks
