£55 is pretty good for all 3 Title: Re: looking for a better deal Post by: Tonji on August 11, 2006, 10:08:47 PM I'm with Telewest, broadband's been reliable in the past year. They were doing a special offer package. Good deal IMO

Title: Re: looking for a better deal Post by: gatso on August 12, 2006, 07:47:48 PM I had the pleasure of speaking to Telewest last week to sort out my sister's account. It went something like this
-can you please explain why you've sent a letter threatening to make charges on the account if £71.02 is not paid when you haven't yet sent the bill? -because the money hasn't been paid yet sir -that's because you haven't sent a bill -we can't send a bill because there's money owing on the account -how can there be money owing when you haven't sent the first bill yet? -we have sent a bill -no you haven't, you've sent a threatening letter -that is the bill sir -no it isn't. a bill would set out the services that had been provided, the time period over which they'd been provided and the amounts payable for each. what you've sent is a letter threatening to make charges to the account and to cut off the television service which you still haven't installed despite sending an engineer to do it 2 months ago -would you like to pay now sir? and so it went on for 1/2 hour, him explaining that they cannot send itemised bills, his manager told him, me telling him his manager was lying to him and maybe he should go and ask again. I spent a good 5 minutes explaining to him how the UK postal service works and the reasons why I would not be paying him £10 to send me an itemised bill. In the end I offered 32 pence to cover the paper, envelope and postage. I actually quite enjoyed it as I like these conversations as long as they don't involve my money. The staff there seem very well trained to avoid giving even an inch and most people would've given up long before me. Eventuallly I got what I wanted and the (incorrect) bill which I had been variously told didn't exist, couldn't be reprinted and would cost £10 arrived the next day. Certainly made up my mind about whether I'd ever deal with them for my own house |
