I stayed at The Orleans

Service was fine. I payed £20PN in the Week  £40PN for Fri/Sat at  Last Minute

Great Poker room playing 2 tourneys a day 12pm and 7pm Normally a 1 rebuy $60+40 or similar
maybe a weekly $200 Freze

Always good cash games from 1/2 NL $100-$300 Sit Down

Free Bus to the Strip or $10 in a Taxi (Just pretend your a Vegas Regular then you won't get robbed
by the Taxi drivers  so much. The're all complete Pondlife.

I stayed at the RIO last year and overall I thought The Orleans was better.

As for flights either the Virgin VS43 Daily @10.45 from LGW or Manchester British Midland are both direct.

Have a great time.

Regards

M

A tip for if you go with Virgin Atalantic...

Regular Price for Mar 07 - £520 each

Join Virgin Flying Club... Get a Virgin AmEx card (details on VA website)... spend anything on card in first 90 days and get 3000 airmiles... get the 'Miles Plus Money' fare - £290 each.

Also you can buy another 1000 miles for £30 and book both flights for £610 total... a saving of £430.  :)up

Pay for the flights with Virgin card and get more airmiles towards your next trip.

I stayed at the Gold Coast recently (and will be going back in March aslo)... like the Orleans it has a free shuttle bus to the strip.

It has a Poker Room, tho probably not as good as The Orleans, however it is just a short walk to The Rio and to The Palms.

Cheers,
Alan

Get a direct flight its worth it,on my last trip to Vegas I stayed at the Gold Coast and it's a lot cheaper than staying on the strip, the rooms are fine and the buffet is pretty good also. I usually stay at the MGM Grand which is quite a bit dearer, but you get what you pay for they have 15 different restaurants ranging from cheap to v expensive, a nice pool complex and spa, getting around the strip is easy from there to as the mono rail starts from the MGM. The poker room is new and always has a good spread of games, there poker room rate gives a $ 40 per night discount for 4 hours play per day. Also just over the strip in New York/New York there is a pub called Nine Fine Irish Men where you can get a good pint of Guinness or Magners, not that I ever take a drink myself  ;D
