you didn't have a jack...so then it's just a matter of whether you believed he did or not...this is a very personal call...but ussually if both players don't have the jack..he who bets wins.

I doubt I'd be able to find a call here. You don't just need to avoid him having a jack, he could aslo have hit any one of the five cards on the board or had any pocket pair to beat you.

hhmmm, have they changed the rules?

What ACE is trying to say is that there is a straight on board and he can only be beaten by a J. ;)

To be honest i'm no cash game expert but you are asking whether you are too tight and yet you fired two pot size bets on both the flop and turn on a complete bluff.

Have to agree with what has already been said so far - when this kind of situation arises when i'm playing tourneys i have to say i just go on feelings at the given time in question and will either call, fold or reraise accordingly.

Did you think flop play was optimal, I think it's awful.

You spent 36 dollars protecting a 12 dollar pot with ace high on a draw heavy board. It is unlikely that he only has a naked 8 and unless you can discuss prior play at the table and your image I can't imagine giving a range of a hands a fold equity estimate.

There is $25 already in the pot when Byron calls $10 and raises a further $26.

I couldn't put Legoman on J8 as he leads out on the flop but J10 or JJ are very possible and he may not have known where he was until he hits his gutshot draw on the river.

But then i havent been watching his play, betting patterns or hands leading upto the hand in question

Hero isn't protecting Villain's bet.

imo the rr on the flop was a good play. and as long as ur opponants have the ability to fold, a def +ev move. most flop plays bk into a raiser from the blinds are weak and a rr can take it away. and if they call you would expect (unless the guy has set up, in which case wp) that 1 if not both ur cards are live. even if this play alone is a break even play then its worth doing so that you are more inclined to get paid when u r not 'at it'

50 50 call on river for me. there is probs just enough in the pot 2 warrent it

I also like the re raise on the flop - you have to know where you stand, and also you may win the pot here.

On the turn, I dont like his check and would check behind him.

Call any smallish (pot size) river bet - gives you an image that you will not be pushed around and you may be splitting the pot.

Um the AK is going nowhere in this hand I fold on flop. Can only get into trouble vs hands like  Aspades 9s and  Kc Tc.

There is $7 invested in this pot swallow it and move on.

I think I probably call the $75 as well.

I  agree with JP.. folding the flop is likely best, .. look at the flop texture , you have a bad hand and no real prospects,  but most importantly you aren't likely to get someone folding given the flop lead so you are just getting yourself into trouble.

The turn is pretty dire, if you dont give up on the flop, give up on the turn , as for the river I push here as much as I call
