I was chatting to a card room manager yesterday about dealing the dealers choice cash game after the tourneys. I've been dealing the NLHE comp for a few weeks now but the extra cash would certainly help pay a few bills while the shirt sales gradually imcrease.  What games would I need to be able to deal and what are the peculiarities / customs specific to cash game dealing

Off the top of my head:

Texas, Omaha, Omaha Hi-lo, Superstud, Draw, Padooki (if that is spelt correctly), Irish.

Irish, can some one clarify whether the card is disgarded before or after the betting on the flop

I always forget. I know that Pineapple is the opposite.

From what I recall, you discard a card AFTER the flop in Irish.

Seven card stud high low.

You get dealt 5 cards and discard 2.

then what? pick an up card and continue stud as usual?

Padooki should be banned... thats not poker and bragg should be barred!! Poker is a 5 card game!!!

Dealt 4 cards.
Aim is to get padooki. I believe A234 off suit is nuts. Padooki always have to be offsuit, unless you're playing a wild card.
I think there are 3 betting rounds. Not 100 percent tho.

so its a lowball game, triple draw like trying to get lowest 4 off suit cards possible

Yes. Obviously no pairs, flushes, etc. Straights excluded.

Some always draws padooki tho.

Yes. highest card plays first. High low game.

So you're banning virtually every form of poker other than draw (which technically is also more than 5 cards, if you count discards).

What you actually meant to say was not what you said ;D

No becuase the final hand in any poker game is best 5 cards (or worse)

Padooki...Deal four cards face down to all players. Round of betting. Gather up discards in a pile. Burn a card and put a chip on it. Going from left of button ask "how many". Player can draw 1 to 4 or stay "pat". After you have done this round of betting. Repeat and rinse :D

The key points for you the dealer are: once it gets to last but one card you have to gather all the discards so far and the burn cards. Shuffle twice and cut. Burn and continue. By and large in Notts this will happen in most Padooki games. Nuts is A234 rainbow. Two or more cards of same suit is a "flush" . Padooki beats flush, flush beats pair.

Irish..Deal cards as in normal Omaha/Holdem game. Round of betting. Deal flop. Round of betting. Those still in discard and game becomes Texas for Turn and river.

Superstud. 5 cards face down. Players staying in discard 2 and put whatever card they want as upcard. Then you burn and deal up as in 7 card stud. Game is hi lo. Can end up with no cards left so you shuffle discards (but I believe NOT the burn) as in Padooki.

Shifting sands etc NOT played in Notts.

Oh, Padooki can be Picture card wild, If this is chosen you deal face up from the top until you get a Face card. You then declare "kings wild" etc about 100 times 'cos no ones listening. ;D

Obviously you give the deck a good shuffle so that pesky picture card doesn't pop out to the button ;D

god padooki is even banned here in Blackpool (its not poker no matter what you say)

Padooki is a variant of poker.

Similar but not the same.

However it is a game that rewards skillfull play so what is the problem ?

Acquire the skill then reap the rewards

From my experience at the Gala, the skill is you either draw your padooki or you don't. (A.K.A. luck)

Its a game that in the medium to long term kills chasers and its one where position is prime (even more so than PLO or Texas), so its skillfull. Its amazing in Notts tho' how badly most play superstud, time after time you see people chasing one way hands with few live cards and no thought as to what the other players are drawing to.

There is a game called Montana Red Dog....

"Pineapple" is starting to increase in popularity and is already on a few site, including Full Tilt. I suspect it ill be others soon.

as have Ulimate bet, well they had it 3 years ago lol altjough it was discard after the flop , which is the other way round isnt it?? i get confused lol
