Right- I have played 2 bingofest tournys in the past 2 weeks and have floundered miserably in both of them- I simply dont know how to play them-

Last night was the riverboats £10 rebuy satellite for the £220 tourny next week- I spent £50 in rebuys and I really need a good strategy should I ever find myself in one of these tedious tournaments ever again

Right,  as I had done shit the previous week getting involved in hands with things like KQ and JQ KJ and smaller pocket pairs; I decided to play pretty tight this week to begin with- my first 2 buy ins I basically dissappeared with the blinds so was forced to go all in with any ace or anything remotely marginal as soon as my stack got to about 400 or 500 just to stay alive- all night tho it seemed I was getting Q5os

and even when I did get a decent hand I would find myself in a 3 way pot and getting beat by peeeeesssschhhhh!!!!

your strategy should technically remain the same or at least mine does, just you
have the advantage of rebuying in the rebuy period if your aces get cracked by 5's
because you only get 500 starting chips !!

My  stagedy for these events is fairly simple.  Keep it tight and as soon as I pick up a decent hand I am shipping it in the middle hoping for a caller, if not I am happy to take the blinds and any chips the limpers leave behind.

By big hands I am talking AA, KK, QQ AK.  If I am getting low in chips then I will lower the starting values to JJ, TT, AQ, AJ.  I am always sure that when i pick up a big hand because the way people play these events I will always find a caller.

I aim to get into the freezeout period with around 6k in chips, I think this is steady enough and again I am sure that after the rebuy I can outplay the majority at my table I like to start accumulating chips early after the rebuy and will start to limp into more pots with lower pocket pairs, suited connectors.  KQ, KJ. KT because the blinds are going up now what tends to happen is you don't see much action unless someone has picked up a hand, so as I say limp in if you connect jam it in and you will find a caller.

This normally works for me and I tend to get quite deep in majority of these rebuy events althoughj at the Stanley the night I was out before the rebuy period ended after 5 rebuys a few reasons for this:

1 - I never picked up many decent cards 3/4 playable hands in 90 minutes.
2: Outdrawn on 2 occasions
3 - Couldn't win a race.  3 exampled KQ versus 22 on a Q 2 X flop

AJ - versus 33
AJ - versus 6 9

I hate rebuys with a vengence - I do my nuts at the southend rebuys - it all depends on the quality of players. Definitely better at Luton but still a lottery to begin with.

Give me a freezeout every time.

Sounds like you need someone to make representations to casinos on your and other players behalf. I know, cheap shot!

As to small rebuy comps....gamble like mad to get 4000-5000 chips (from 1000 starting)  in the first level and then play it proper-like!

I absolutely love rebuys. You play tight and try to get a lot of chips.  BUT even if you fail/lose all your races and even if you have around 1000 at end of rebuy period, its still possible to double through a few times with decent hands when the freezeout section begins.

The thing i enjoy most about these tourneys is your potential prize money. Because i only spend about £10 -£15 on average (£5 rebuy) but most people spend about £30 on average this gives me huge value on my investment if i can make a big finish.

exactly!. You play rebuys for value..you only get value if you haven't spent a huge amount of dosh.

Keep playing tight in the beginning. the rebuy stage is only there for people to stick some more money into the prize pool. Most people stop playing bingo when the buy in stage has ended...and that's when you start making your moves.

As long as you have about 20 times the BB once buy ins have finishesed you're fine. (ussually that's one buyin and a top up)

That's the way I've played all (two) of my rebuys.  Really tight looking to double up during the rebuy period, then I have an add on and enjoy the freezeout stage.

I played in a rebuy last week and there was only 10 people in the game from the start and the prize fund was about £470!  Now the card room will have taken some juice I'm sure, how much I don't know) but the average spend must have been at least £50!  I only spent £30 (had to rebuy once) so it was definatly value for me.  Got knocked out in 4th though :(
