Title: stitched up over a % II
Post by: 77dave on August 29, 2006, 06:12:38 PM
ok the last thread had been deleted it seems that i gave a few too many details and left too many clues for people to work out who the player in question was.

im happy for the thread to of been  removed and started again i think it was done for my benefit as much as blondes was just looking for some advice and putting awareness out for other blondes

ok so start again

i have been involved in a deal with another poker player for the past yr where we swap 5% with each other in all festival events that we play.
in this yr i have paid him out a lot more than he has paid me.
he has recently had a 5 figure cash at a recent event so i was expecting my 5%

he has completly blanked me over this and it looks like 3 weeks later he is not going to give me a penny

the purpose of the thread was to ask advice if anyone else has been in a similar situation and to raise awareness for other players to be careful about who they do deals with

Try find out if there is a problem with him, talk to him directly in a calm way about it. If there is no budge with him and you believe your 100% right, inform your close friends and poker associates about him. His rep will soon proceed him.

Money makes a mockery of many so called friendships, very sad.

the trouble with swapping percentages is fantastic when your losing and a friend is supporting you but not so good when you have a nice win and you have to pay out a chunk of your prize to someone else  :(

i tend to not swap percentages with anyone unless i really have to as acidmouse said it has made a mockery of many so called friendships.

remember this. You are at the poker table as you are in life. We know what sort of person this is. Long term he will not have the depth of friendships that you will enjoy. The short term pain will pass. Let's be honest the money comes and goes for all of us. The pain is there from the actions by a supposed friend. Only time will heal that. Bit deep for me........going to go and get a beer

thats right

Even if you do not name the individual if people can safely infer from the details given who the player is then if he chooses to sue for defamation then its still a risk for blonde

Think Ashley Cole and NOW magazine for a parallel, and with respect most other fora should not allow it either

Ashley Cole is loaded and can afford to take legal action against a publication which has defamed him.

I am not sure that an internet forum can be held responsible for every comment published, and if it can what a great scam that could be  ;goodvevil;

What about the Gold case.

Or you could just forget about it, as UB Obviously want me to do :

Paul,

I understand your position on this matter, but as stated in the previous emails there is nothing we can do as it is not our responsibility and we can not take part in any agreement made by our players at the final tables. Please understand that we known that what this player did may be wrong, but we can not punish him because we just can not do that. He has his reasons and he has explained them to us.

Now, I recommend you to stop following this player as it seems that he will not transfer the funds to your account. If you keep following him he can actually report you for harassing and, depending on the case, your account can even be permanently disabled. You could probably think that it wouldn't be fair for you, but those are the rules and we have to stick to those rules.

We are really sorry that this had to end up like this, but now you now that it is better not to make any deals if you don't know the other player.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

I guess you both won WSOP seats on UB. Guess you didn't bump into Mumba while at the Rio?

UB's response is pathetic

Seriously though i'd go and get my money off of him, forget about being his friend again, especially after the way he acted when you sat down at the same table as him afterwards.

btw m3, ub response is VERY funny, I'd like to find out it in what form the guys been complaining to them, they know what he did and i wonder if they have brought it up with him at all whilst his been complaining to them about you!

This is sick....maybe we should take it in turns to stalk him. I do not use this site but I am now tempted to log on and just follow the guy around for the sport. I would suggest for anyone in future who does a deal, they should consider taking a screen grab at the time. To do what UB have done and abdicate responsibility is a disgrace. A verbal contract is still a contract.....my blood is boiling..............better go and get a cuppa

UB havnt even done that, they're chatting absolute s**t, they dont want anything to do with this situation and whilst corresponding with mumba i'd be very surprised if they'd even asked him about why it is he decided to renege on the agreement he made.

I'd feel so angry that i didn't have the oppoutunity to get my money and furthermore have the perpetrator convince UB that my subsequent "harassment" is worse than the act that precipitated it.

Thats why i think you should go and get your money from your "mate"  77dave, in nearly the same situation you've got so much more opportunity to do something about it than m3boy has i just think its crazy to let him walk off with your money.

I'm offended for you both, i always have a little % with friends when we play live and it always gets dutifully handed over.

How can he have taken the %'s from you then stiff you on his turn, that truly is a c@#%s trick and the sowerness is going to last forever.

I had a similar thing happen when someone I considered a friend pulled a stroke like that.

What really hurt was that he was prepared to fall out with me just for a few quid.

Just "move on", life's too short, & there are more rewarding & important battles to fight along the way. I do feel for you Dave, but it's nature's way of reminding us that our character judgement is fallible.

thanks for the advice

i have decided to forget the whole incident and mark this one up to experience

i feel proud of myself for being the bigger man

i also think that if i drop to his level and make a scene in the card room about whats happened it will become a bad reflection on me and not him

he knows what he has done is wrong and if he can live with it then good for him  im happy at being able to sleep at night

as tikay said life is too short

Good man you.

I just watched you on TV, in a Final at Gutshot, I must say you have quite a good game there, once you learn to handle the more experienced players. I mean, fancy Raising me with K-T eh? Note how bravely I moved in on you, despite not having much of a hand myself......
