;goodluck;  everyone

A full house Tikay?

A full house is three of one card and two of another. I answered that one on behalf of Tikay as I thought he might struggle.
Any other poker related questions?  :D

Hello peeps!  Tikay mentioned some guest updaters to guess at but as I am so impatient I'll just tell you all its me!

Tonights comp is a £100 rebuy and it has made a respectable 70 runners.  They all started with 3,000 chips and are playing with a 30 min clock.  There has been 19 rebuys already and counting - lets see how many they can all get it.

So with one seat only on offer for the William Hill Grand Prix II event it will be intersting to see how this pans out.

I am at your disposal and any requests I will be happy to oblige.  Any one from Newcastle got local interest? Let me know names and I will look out for them.

First time at Aspers for me and it really is quite nice.  A bit of a Vegas feel to it with slots everywhere and I even heard a lady dances on the bar late at night  :o  Where are you Kev?

As we walked into reception the superstars in my presence - Julian and Tikay - got given some sort of media card and written in clear big letters on Julians was:

JULIE THEW      rotflmfao rotflmfao

I kid you not, he was not too amused, hehe.

We have only fifteen minutes left of the rebuy period and getting chip counts is a little tricky to say the least as they are yoyoing.

We have seen Camel though on 13k and Eric Barker on 4k at the mo.

We have lost 2 already and the rebuys are up to 54.  Wahay in the toon (as they say, I think)

Back to some poker - James Browning has just been over and explained his last hand.  C T Law raised it up to 1,200 and James went all in for about 9k which well covered Mr Law.

C T called with A Q suited and James turned over A K off.  His AK stood up and James is now up to 17k.  The average is 9,500 with 58 players still vying to be no.1.

RED-DOG double news;
our hero had been quite busy and was fortunate to pick up kings after his third consective raise...
George Geary wasn't impressed tho & decided to defend his BB...
Axx flop checked, RD had a pop on the turn when a 10 fell and decided to call GG's all-in bet on the river when the 10 paired....he was right & was rewarded with a sweet pot & is now comfy with 20K+

Just caught the end of an exciting hand on Eric Barkers table.  They was a 3 way pot all on their backs.  Eric had KK infamous matey had QQ infamous matey 2 had A2.  Eric's Kings stood up and he went from 2.2k 10 mins before to a healthier 14.4k.

Keith Hawkins seems to be cruising on 22,700.

Cool hand on Reds table.  3 way pot again, 2 guys all in.  Young and cool gun local Marc Foggin takes down a big pot with 88.  His oppos had A9 and KQ.  Amazingly the flop is A Q 8 something for everyone and Marc's trip 8's stood up knocking out 2 in the process.

We are down to 43.

John "jonnygreek" Stam also appears to be on a roll.  He is a local lad (apart from being Greek  :D). The guy played all week at the recent Aspers festival and got to 3 final tables, has been rolling ever since and seams to be everywhere at the moment.  Won a SNG for the Sheffield main event at Napoleans and finished 5th - great showing.

He is on 22k at the mo.  38 left with average stack at 14,400.

Julian keeps hijacking my thread!!  I have kicked him into touch to tell you that there seams to be a table with alot of big stacks.

Eric Barker seams to be the daddy tonight.

Eric 45k
David Burton 41k
Dave Stevenson 20k
Andy Wislon 14k  -  Lovely fella seams to be on the circuit alot and is a very pleasant table mate.
James Browning 14k

We are down to 33, avg 16,600.

As we are guests of William Hill tonight, I cannot fault their hospitality.  Every one got a pack of cards, the dealers have personalised T-Shirts for each Grand Prix qualifier, my Vodka is flowing and getting happier by the minute  ;D

Just as I spoke about Red and b4matt there is big action on their table.  RED raised with AK and was called with 99 which stood up and left RED with 4k.

Very next hand, Matt makes a raise and mateyboy re-raises, it comes to RED-DOG who looks down at  5d  6d. He goes all in with his short stack and Matt calls the reraise.  The flop comes

 Js  3d  5h

Matey goes all in and Matt has a dwell and then passes.  On their backs.  Red thinks he may have a chance and matey turns over AA - bang bang.

Red goes out in 30th.

Just as I got up Eric Barker involved in a big pot again.  All in preflop, Eric had AA and Dave Burton had KK.  As they got turned over Eric declares "I get outdrawn every time" flop is

 3s  Qd  2s  Kh  5c

Eric says again "every time" but he is only heavily dented not out with 7k.

Just hearing wonderful tales from the cash tables.  Am I the only bugger working???

Julian and Red-dog clash. Red raises, Julian re-raises, Tom goes all in.  Obviously tom doesnt believe the yo-yo will ever have a hand.  Julian shows AA, Tom shows 88.  Flop

 Qs  Qh  6s

Next two cards - Spade, Spade and Red has  8s to take the pot.  :)up

Julian bangs table and laughs hehe.

Very next hand Julian has AK, no one believes again, gets two callers and looses to a rivered straight after hitting a King on the flop.  Oh dear!!  Julian - Tourneys good - cash - bad!!

We have lost one of my faves - Eric Barker.  He was getting low and got it in with J 10.  He got called by AA of course, hit his 10 but game over.  Sorry to see the suavest gentlemen in town go.

We have 16 left. Blinds are at 1,500 - 3,000 and average chips are 34,300.  Gonna check on our blondeite Matt.

I go and stand by his side, then he goes all in - aarrrrrrrgggghhhh....................................Everyone passes.  He on 30k.

Looney Toon story.  James Hunter (slighly sloshed) has a go at me for smoking near his table.  I only did it cos another player was doing it. Anyway he sent me to the side lines.  A minute later I come back, he is all in and doing press ups against the table and knocking everyones chips side to side.   ;hide;

Sorry to report that b4matt has just gone in 12th.  He was getting low with 14k and with blinds at 2k - 4k he pushed with 7 8 suited.  It didn't work and he excited philosophically.  Well played Matt!!

11 now and hand for hand.

We now have a final.  Looks like we are down to ten of Newcastle's finest.  No blondes I'm afraid, but some lucky someone will be on TV and imo the best tv tournament in a long while.  Here are the finalists:

Seat 1 - Martin Jameson         71k
Seat 2 - Jason Slessor            86k
Seat 3 - Russ Taylor               69,500
Seat 4 - Dane Tallen              33k
Seat 5 - Chat Chan                44,300
Seat 6 - Syed Zaidi                39,400
Seat 7 - David Knight             39,200
Seat 8 - Sam Lam                  41,300
Seat 9 - Marc Fossin               51,100
Seat 10 - Thomas Dunwoodie   58,600

Raise and all fold stuff at the moment after that explosive start with Martin Jameson being the most active.

A pinch raise all in by Zaidi is called instantly by David Knight, not surprising as he held kk and was up against jq off. The kings held up and we are down to 7.

On a queen high flop a series of raises and re raises finds Jason Slessor eliminating Marc Foggin with qq v q 10.

We are down to 3 after alot of folding.  Martin Jameson raises to 30k (blinds 6k - 12k).  Russ Taylor goes all in with his big stack. Martin didnt wanna call but declares "if i'm gonna win I have to gamble".  Call - he shows  Tc Jc.  Russ has  Qs Qh.  Q on the flop and game over for Martin I'm afraid.  Russ has most of the chips now on the table.

2 hands later and I think they have all nearly missed their buses.  The short stack David Knight moved all in with 55 and the biggie Russ Taylor again called with KQ.  The flop brought a Q and David Knight is out in 3rd place.

So heads up between Jason Slessor and Russ Taylor.  The later with about 3-1 chip lead and I think we may have a battle on as the difference between some cash and playing in the WH Grand Prix for more cash is huge imo.  Let the battle commence!!!

Post by: Chili on August 30, 2006, 04:14:05 AM
Just as I said it was to be a battle.  Russ goes all in pre-flop and Jason calls.  We have  Ac Js v  Ad 2h.  We do not have a winner.  The flop came:

 Ahrt  Kd  Qh  5s  Qs

Choppity chop!

Title: Re: The William Hill Gand Prix Qualifier @ Aspers Newcastle.
Post by: Chili on August 30, 2006, 04:29:53 AM
Thats it folks!  Jason Slessor raised on the button with  Ahrt  6h.  Russ went all in with  Kc Jh and Jason called.  The first card was favourable for the shorter stack Jason but thats it:

 Ac  Ts  Qs

A  Js on the turn and a 5c on the river made Russ Taylor the Cardiff bound Champion and winner of the golden comedy large ticket for his entry into the William Hill Grand Prix II.  Congratulations that man!!

So a large Big Up to Aspers for hosting this event which was an excellently run event and never ran into problems.  Also to the WH guys who were brilliant representatives of the company and looked after all of us.

Cheers guys for only my second live update and counting and goodnight.
