Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: snoopy1239 on August 31, 2006, 05:59:16 AM I thought it was pretty good but somewhat forgettable.
Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: bolt pp on August 31, 2006, 09:16:25 AM Absolute pony, the worst brittish gangsta film EVER!!!! complete shit!!!
did you watch it nemesis? Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: Colchester Kev on August 31, 2006, 09:49:53 AM I must say that I saw the title of this thread and thought ...hmmmmm sounds like a good movie, i have never heard of that title before, I will give it a look .... 2 minutes into the film, i realise that I had seen it before and it was so naff that i had forgotten the title.
Naff, pants, pony, etc etc etc ... made the Krays look like an Oscar winner !! Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: Nem on August 31, 2006, 12:22:10 PM Absolute pony, the worst brittish gangsta film EVER!!!! complete shit!!! did you watch it nemesis? No, I was too busy tilting and then winning. :D Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: Snatiramas on August 31, 2006, 12:47:38 PM So a mixed concensus then.....think I will get it out and watch it
Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: I, Zimbra on September 01, 2006, 12:10:17 PM It's not a straight biopic in the mode of the Krays, it's more stylized. The whole concept for one, that it's told in flashback with Malcolm McDowell playing the older version of the Bettany character, is always going to make it slightly less multiplex and more arthouse.
Don't expect "Lock Stock", or even "Sexy Beast" but I thought it was worth seeing. Bettany was especially good (but then he always is). Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: bolt pp on September 01, 2006, 12:18:38 PM for every sexy beast there is a "gangster no1"
for every love, honour, and obey there is a "charlie" And for every long good Friday there is "the krays" They have to test the water with the pony films, its how they come up with the good ones Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: Nem on September 01, 2006, 12:25:02 PM I thought Love honur and obey was pony
So was sexy beast The only film Winston has been good in was Scum. Well, I havent seen all his films tbh. Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: bolt pp on September 01, 2006, 12:52:41 PM I thought Love honur and obey was pony So was sexy beast The only film Winston has been good in was Scum. Well, I havent seen all his films tbh. I like love honour and obey for its comedic element, i used to watch the same team of actors in their police docu-comedy program, i cant remember what it was called but it was blinding, i dont think you could view this film as a "serious" gangsta film but its got a good soundtrack, good story line, the violence is funny and the actings o.k sexy beast!!!! are you for real? Title: Re: N/P: Gangsta No1 Post by: I, Zimbra on September 01, 2006, 02:38:10 PM If you think Gangster No. 1 was bad, then what on earth can possibly be made of -
- that movie the All Saints made with Dave from Eurythmics? - "Rancid Aluminium" (with Rhys Ifans)? - "You're Dead" (with John Hurt)? - "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (the 2000 version with Stellan Skarsgard and... yes, Paul Bettany)? There comes a point where you have to admit that there are some truly dreadful Brit Gangster films out there, Gangster No. 1 is by no means the worst of them. |
