Title: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Decider on August 31, 2006, 05:29:21 PM Hello,
Must be the deal of the season, but West Ham have signed Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/5301068.stm I can't wait to see them in the Premiership. Eoan Title: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Sheriff Fatman on August 31, 2006, 05:30:08 PM It now looks as if Tevez and Mascherano's moves to West Ham (apparently on loan) are official.
Hammers fans must be ecstatic, even if it ultimately proves to be a short-term 'springboard' to a bigger move for them. Can't think of any bigger 'surprise deals' in recent times. Keegan to Southampton maybe in the early 80s. Anyone come up with anything better? Sheriff Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: booder on August 31, 2006, 05:39:04 PM permanent not loan
Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: The Baron on August 31, 2006, 05:41:47 PM Tevez - as in Carlos?
I think O'Niell to Villa is pretty huge considering some of the jobs he was linked with! Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Sheriff Fatman on August 31, 2006, 05:41:57 PM permanent not loan Wow! Truly sensational in that case. Sheriff Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Sheriff Fatman on August 31, 2006, 05:43:21 PM Tevez - as in Carlos? I think O'Niell to Villa is pretty huge considering some of the jobs he was linked with! Yep, Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, part of the only Argentinian World Cup team who's football made me overcome my natural desire for them to fail miserably. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: TightEnd on August 31, 2006, 06:08:25 PM Even if it is just keeping them warm for Chelsea, the Investment company that owns their rights is connected to Abramovich, its impressive stuff
Enjoy Hammers fans Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Karabiner on August 31, 2006, 06:17:10 PM I wonder how much of a say the players actually had in this move.
Great result for Hammers fans and the EPL though, lucky gits ;tracet; Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: matt674 on August 31, 2006, 06:21:42 PM Even if it is just keeping them warm for Chelsea, the Investment company that owns their rights is connected to Abramovich, its impressive stuff Enjoy Hammers fans These rumours of links to Abramovich have yet to be proved - i think it has more to do with the company who own them both wanting to get a foot in the door at West Ham as they tried to buy the club a few years back but were turned down. The fact that West Ham wont release any details of the transfers including length of contract means that the rumour mongers are going to have a field day with lots of different speculations as to the terms of the deal. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Bongo on August 31, 2006, 06:32:46 PM I heard a rumour that Chelsea were financing the move pending them going to them next season.
As Matt says though, rumour mongers will have a field day with this. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: whufc65 on August 31, 2006, 07:32:19 PM Great new for us. someone pinch me

Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 31, 2006, 10:29:26 PM Sigh, and Newcastle sell Milner, the one player who has looked good pre-season, sign on loan a player not good enough to play for Man U, a player over the hill and not good enough to play for Man City and try to sign a fat aussie from Middlesborough. At least some teams are making good signings.
Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Nem on August 31, 2006, 10:57:18 PM They were offered to all the top clubs (Spurs included ;goodvevil;) and all the BIG clubs refused to sign them. Then in desperation, Wet Spam enter the equation :D
Don't believe the hype, they have a lot to prove. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: whufc65 on August 31, 2006, 11:06:03 PM Who needs Steed
when we've got Mascherano? Who wants Steed When we've got Mascherano? Who is Steed? We've got Mascherano! Heeeey Mascherano!" (to the tune of Macarena, if it's not bleeding obvious) Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Nem on August 31, 2006, 11:13:29 PM Why should I sign for a small club. It doesn't matter how much they offer me. The mighty Tottenham Hotspur are a very very big club. Wet Spam are just Tottenham Hotspur's nursery club and are a yo-yo club up and down - up and down. I couldn't agree more Steed. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Thank god we did something good in the transfer window rather than just signing a couple of whinging gits from somewhere like Fulham or Wigan or something.... ;goodvevil; Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Nem on September 01, 2006, 07:41:39 PM :D

Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Graham C on September 02, 2006, 12:05:18 PM I quite like West Ham too.
Interesting times there eh. Wonder how long they will stay. Do you think it's all a part of the big plan for the man to take over the club? Should be a cracker of a season this year. Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Karabiner on September 02, 2006, 12:49:25 PM To be honest Silo, I think this deal stinks but it should make for a very interesting season.
Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Nem on September 02, 2006, 07:43:14 PM West Ham and Arse love each other cos of their hatred towards Spurs.
Sad and pathetic Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Karabiner on September 02, 2006, 07:46:56 PM West Ham and Arse love each other cos of their hatred towards Spurs. Sad and pathetic Actually I couldn't stand them until the end of last season when a deep affection suddenly stirred PS How are you doing for left sided midfielders ? ;goodvevil; Title: Re: Best transfer coup ever? Post by: Nem on September 02, 2006, 08:09:04 PM Jol is copying the arse way.
When you had a decent team a couple of season ago, you played with an inside left (Pires, Ljunberg etc...) Thats what we are doing now, playing with an inside left. Boro wanted 18million for Downing, for obvious reasons, we refused. Even against crap opposition today, he looked ordinary. You see Lennon, comes on and makes a goal with his first touch - different class. |
