Title: Do you remember any of your School teachers?
Post by: Sark79 on September 01, 2006, 09:29:25 PM
I was watching a bit of Restoration on BBC just now. In it, one of the featured buildings was an old School in Ireland. This got me thinking about my School days and my old teachers.

I traveled around abit as a Kid, but I do remember my first day at School very clearly. On my first day of Primary one, I was convinced that I was going to be abandoned at the School by my Dad and I was panicking. As I was being persuaded to go into the class by the Head Teacher, I swung my arm and landed a cracking blow to her eye. Unfortunately she had a black eye for about a week after that. This is the only woman I have ever hit and looking back on it now, I feel bad as she was a really nice Lady  :D.  She was called Mrs Jackson.  Sorry Mrs Jackson  :)

I can't really remember many other teachers from the various Primary Schools I attended. My attendance at Secondary School was so bad that I only have passing memories of any of the teachers there. The only one that sticks in my mind was the PE teacher as he was a nice bloke that once played for the Kilmarnock Football team.

Do you have any happy or sad memories from your School days?

There was one teacher at the same School as the Head Teacher I hit.  Instead of giving punishments to Kids that misbehaved, she gave them a "Shaker Maker". This involved being held by the shoulders and shaken very roughly. I remember her being a gray colour and very similar in appearance to the Ghost in the "Woman In Black" horror movie. Fortunately I only received the Shaker Maker twice, both times for my inability to count well enough. Nowadays if a teacher did that she would be sacked  :D

But on a good side once I settled..came the long hot summers, when we were able to take the tables and chairs outside for our lessons.. or sit on the school playing field whilst read a story..them days we walked home from primary / junior school on our own ....2 miles every day..no worry about who may get at us .. just free to walk in innocence..

Primary School:

Mrs White
Mrs Hampson
Miss Puncheon
Mrs Hulme
Mr Wright
Mrs Justice
Mrs Jones

in that order.......

Secondary school:

Well the list would be about 50-60 names of which i could probably name 40 and the subjects they taught.

we had Mrs Lippiat, she had an artificial hip and used to spit when she shouted ... man you never wanted to get in trouble in her lessons in case she got in your face and screamed at you LOL

we had Mr Haydock the headmaster.... whenevr you got sent to see him for arsing about he used to give you tea and biscuits and invite you to sit down and chat about your behaviour :)

Mrs Wynd ... she had the unfortunate honour to be my form tutor for 4 years, lovely woman, never got mad at us, even when we used to lock her in the store cupboard when she went in there for books.

In primary school my hero was a teacher called Mr Pymont .... an absolute legend and probably the only teacher I ever had 100% respect for, the respect grew when i had left school and was a manager for Corals bookies in Luton and MR Pymont used to come in every day to have his bet, I still called him Mr Pymont even then ... he was a top bloke.

Oh, I do remember my Physics teacher at School. He was called Mr Armour and he was a nice bloke. He was in Mensa and was a National ranked Chess player. I was selected to play on his Chess team while at School and went with him to a few tournaments. I was crap at his subject though, but he was still a good bloke.  I see him occasionally and still call him Sir

Mr Bond - The love of my life!
Mr Bartle - He only taught me in year 11 for English, but in that time he came to be my most favourite teacher of all time! He was lovely.
Mr Paull - I used to wind him up something rotten, poor guy, he used to bang the table on the ground to get me to shut up and I'd just laugh in his face...ooops!
Mrs Gallagher - Once told me to "Stop fingering!" - fortunately I was just touching a map in a geography lesson... She was weird and made me pretend to be a river, and used to have red lipstick on her teeth.
Mrs Gaffney - The french teacher. I hated her. She hated me. Got me suspended so I put chewing gum in her hair, then she popped a huge condom I'd blown up "Stop playing with balloons in my lesson!"

...I was a little bitch at school!

I remember having a History teacher with a lazy eye. When he asked someone a question it was a bit tricky to work out who he was talking to...

oy, having a lazy eye is not to be mocked... it has its advantages, you can perve at women and blame it on the fact that it was the wrong eye :)

Tis quite funny this thread has been started, i bumped into my old English teacher a couple of days ago.

Can remember most of them, i tended to "hang-out" with the science teachers at break and lunch times.

Mind you, earned a name for myself by "Leading" a rather large demonstration during the teachers dispute regarding pay all them years ago.  A lot of pupils at my secondary school received free school meals due to their circumstances, but because the teachers were taking action, no teachers were present at luchtimes to supervise and so these unlucky kids were not getting their meals.  So we had a demo, complete with banner ( who makes em? ) and i made te point of our demo clear the the Head and deputy head.  Of course, i and 2 others were pulled up before the entire school, but kept my head high and stood my ground.

School days, eh?

Debbie, my Psychology teacher at college - she was absolutely mad! She once announced to the whole class that her brother had been having sex when the woman all of a sudden did malteser-like shit on the bed.....such a turn on! It's the fact that she saw it appropraite to mention that that makes me laugh!

My maths teacher at college was a small, skinny woman who was quiet and mild mannered.  I had a bit of trouble during this time with an ex, and on one occasion he had followed me to college and mid lesson came into class to be his usual horrible self.  Not one person did anything, there were grown men in that class and not one stood up to him even when he got violent.  It was the mild mannered slip of a teacher who ran up to the back of the class and stood in-between me and him to defend me.  She was my heroine  that day and she taught me the most valuable lesson I had ever been taught.  To stand up for myself!

I had a job in a nightclub when I was 16. A teachers of mine came in on a Thursday night out. She wasn't a big fan of lil ol' me so I was worried my (I'm 18, honest guv) cover mighta been broken.

The following day, she called me out of another class and asked if I could go into her office at lunchtime for "a word".

I was dreading that meeting, I really loved my job and now it looked like it was over. She held all the cards and I had a lot to lose.

Turns out I had nothing to worry about, straight off the bat she told me that she wouldn't report my extra curricular activities in exchange for my discretion in the fact that she had been snogging some random bloke.

I had no idea what she'd been up to the previous evening other than the fact that she was in the building. Far too busy working to worry about who was doing what and with whom.

I don't know what she's up to now, if she's still married or wot. I do hope she plays online poker though  ;D

I remember two teachers in particular :-

Mr Humphries was a sports teacher who had left us alone in the swimming pool while he went to take a call, or have a smoke, or something. While he was away everyone started chucking floats at each other. He walked back in as a couple of floats were still flying through the air. He questioned us about who had thrown them but no one would admit to it, so he opened the fire doors and made us all stand outside in the snow in our swimming trunks until eventually someone owned up.
Another time, some of us had jumped into the pool before the Mr Humphries had arrived. To teach us a lesson, he lined us up along the end of the pool and got us to bend over, he then got the long pole that they used to clean the bottom of the pool with and whacked us all at the same time. He had seen a couple of the class dive in prior to getting struck so he called them back to the side, lined them up again and had another go.

Mr Lawson was a chemistry teacher who was a bit on the mad side. One girl fell asleep in his class so he got the CO2 fire extinguisher and sprayed her with it. He did this to the same girl on a few occasions over the year.
