Title: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: tikay on September 05, 2006, 07:03:45 PM Well here we are, safe & sound, we have arrived at Leg Two of the 4-stop Grand-Prix Land-Based Qualifier Tour, with Dublin & The Broadway still to come. I gather The Sportsman has the SOLD OUT signs up this evening, so that's great news. We have a bit of an iffy Inernet Connection in this Basement - but luxurious - Cardroom, so we are going to do our best to bring you a Mini Live Update, with Guest Updaters exactly as last week at Newcatle. OK, I gotta go mingle - I'm an Official Mingler this evening - & once our Guest Updaters have finished Din-Din, they'll give you the low-down on tonight's Runners & Riders. Shuffle Up & Deal is at 8pm. So sidle up & watch, right? Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 05, 2006, 08:27:03 PM Double up first hand news. Dan - its Cupcake. Matey raised but threw in two 500 chips. He was confused and thought they were 50 chips. Dealer says bet stands so Cupcake says "all in." It looked like a stroke but matey was committed to call and flipped over K J, Cupcake flipped over KK. To top it all off the case king lands on the flop and Mr McGraine has 4,000 chips.

It seams every time I walk past Michael Greco and Ian Woodley, they are both all in. 2 hands ago Woodley had 9 4 and Greco had 22, third guys KK stood up.
Next hand, they are both all in again and 2 other guys join the party. Woodley K 5 Greco 7 8 matey 5 9 matey 2 8 3 Woodley wins with K high :D :D :D. "Now we are talking" he says as he counts 8k. We shall restart shortly with a 30 min clock and blinds at 200/400. AAAAAAYYYYYYAAARRRRRRRRR go on john ya big fish Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 05, 2006, 11:25:42 PM MORE Tighty news. He limps UTG with AA and there is a raise and a re-raise - happy days. Tighty goes all in, one man goes away and the other calls with AK. Tighty doubles up again "and more." 40k ish.
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 05, 2006, 11:30:56 PM We have lost Steve Bovis and Jac Arama
I walked past Jac as he exited and he told me his pair of tens were rivered! His AA lost to AK "nevermind, see ya" and he is off. 42 left Bambos seems to be struggling and Willie Tann looks very comfy with his arms round his big chips. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 05, 2006, 11:37:28 PM We are down to 37 players and 4 tables now. Brian Johnson is flying. He now has about 55k and is the Chip leader at the mo. The average stack is 15K. Looks like Tighty has lost a few but still in with a shout.

Lets get it on!! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Sheriff Fatman on September 06, 2006, 12:09:03 AM Hi Chili
Wish Tighty GL from me please. Sheriff Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 12:23:36 AM Brian Johnson just won a monster pot knocking out 2 people in the process. His JJ on a KKJ flop was more than a match for the 2 shortstacks and he is now over 80k.
Richard Ashby who came from nowhere has doubled up for the third time. Ashby raises with AA and gets an all in caller with JJ the flop was an amazing Td Th Ts followed by Jd then the Ad. Danny Samson has just been knocked out also. Tighty says he is alright on 24k and we have 22 left. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 12:30:08 AM Tighty has just doubled up Michael Greco who has been the short stack for most of the night though. Greco went all in with middle pair and Tighty called because it was so small with an under pair to the board 6c 6d.
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 12:36:17 AM They are falling like flies now. Down to 2 tables just as I saw Michael Greco leave the building sharp like.
John McGraine has been busy, he lost about 18k of his stack with a very unfortunate board of 3 hearts. He was holding K 5 of hearts but his opponent was holding the nut flush. Not long afterwards he is back up to 30k after a race with 77's against AQ. Good lad! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 12:41:26 AM Meanwhile here is a picture of the cash game going on in my ears.
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: dan on September 06, 2006, 12:57:31 AM right im off to bed in a sec, chilli could you just let me know how cupcake is getting on before i go and wish him good luck from me please.
thanks for the updates this evening Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 01:06:19 AM We are down to 17 players and shortly the blinds will be 1000, 2000. Cupcake is down to about 14k after a bizarre pot with speach play galore coming from both players. After some preflop raising we had a flop of
2h 3h 4c matey goes all in and John has something to think about. Matey was saying go on call, you will lose!! After a bit of back and forth, John passes and matey throws over 2s 4d. He is down but not out. Unfortunately Tighty is out though. He had 20k left and was faced with a raise by Richard Ashby. Tighty reraised but Ashby went all in. Tighty was now committed and called with JJ. Ashby had AK and flopped a K for game over Tighty. Unlucky Rich. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 01:13:21 AM Jim Reid 32k
Brian Johnson 60k Cupcake 13k Willie Tan 25k Bambos 31k Dave Clarke 18k David Lloyd 43k Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: The_nun on September 06, 2006, 01:23:47 AM That was a mighty fine piccy of your good self and Mr Bambos...I cant help but say ,..he is one handsome man.....as i have so said to Mrs Bambos b4...

Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 01:41:40 AM Dave Clarke OUT
David Lloyd OUT Bambos doubles up AQ v's AJ 12 left, average is 47k Jim Reid 25k Brian Johnson 66k Cupcake 27k Willie Tann 36k Bambos 51.5k Thanks Maureen - The connection here is still painfully slow, I am struggling to get posts up before everything changes. I percivere. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: RED-DOG on September 06, 2006, 01:43:59 AM Is Percy Vere still in?
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: The_nun on September 06, 2006, 01:45:51 AM Why ever not Tom.. i have taken out my teeth........ :D
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 01:54:06 AM It is now bubble time. Cupcake knocked out a short stack. Shortie was all in pre-flop with Td Th and John called with Jh Js.
The flop was no help for shortie so John upto about 68k. Much better shape. Couple of cash games still going on including a William Hill Cash game it seams, including Julian, Steve Vladar, Bad Girl, Bobby 1, Tikay and Dave Compton. Am I jealous - a bit! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:09:22 AM Again a great hand involving Cupcake. Blinds 2/4k John raises to 10k, he gets a caller. Flop
Ks Qs 2c John Checked, matey bet 10k and JOhn went all in. Matey passes quickly and is now upto 89k. The average is 52k. On the other table. Brian Johnson takes a hit trying to push a guy of second pair with his missed straight draw. Failed - down to 26k. We are still 11. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:10:50 AM Is Percy Vere still in? Just seen this. Tut tut Tom, no he went out first hand of the night. x Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: TightEnd on September 06, 2006, 02:12:19 AM well done tonight Chili.
Gave it my best shot but lost JJ versus AK all in pre flop, when it really mattered Ludicrously tough field, and those that weren't tough were rebuy maniacs!! Great night though. Richard Ashby recovered from 1800 chips with the blinds at 600-1200 to get here chipped up, hope he wins it Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:21:49 AM We have a final. Dixie, who had quite a big stack at one point, made a call allin on a flop of
Td 3h 7h His oppo had Ac 8s Dixie had Qs Qc. The turn Aspades ouch! Be back shortly with the ten names and chip counts. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:36:55 AM Ok, so we now have 10 guys all in the money but only 1 to win the seat for the William Hill Grand Prix II. In seat order they are:
1- Willie Tann 51K 2- John McGrane 79K 3- D Selin 39K 4- Jim Reed 34K 5- G Patterson 42K 6- S Yusuf 113.5K 7- Brian Johnson 25K 8- Richard Ashby 97K 9- D Gregory 45K 10- Bambos Xanthos 55K Tidy looking final indeed!! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:53:06 AM Nearly straight away we are down to 9. The chip leader Sami Yusuf raised and Bambos went all in. Yusuf called the 39K and turned over Ac Kc
Bambos had 6c 6d The board was 2h 9d 5c 4h Kh Very cruel river to send Bambos out in 10th but with a purse of £712. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 02:58:24 AM About 2 mins later, Brian Johnson the short stack made a move with Kh Th but was called by Qh Js. The J on the river sealed the fate for Brian and he is our 9th place finisher and £855 better off.
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 03:16:36 AM It seams to be the Jim Reid show at the moment. He only has about 39k but he pushed all in 4 times in 5 hands and everyone passed each time.
Then it comes to Gary Patterson who had about 40k and pushed with 7c 9c but got called by chip daddy Yusuf who had the bullets. The flop was interesting for Gary 8c Tc 2s but no more help came and Gary Patterson is our 8th place finsiher and takes home £1,140. Yusuf now on 135k. The blinds have increased to 4,000 - 8,000 so i predict this to be quick!! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 03:22:31 AM Nearly straight away again we are down to 6. John McGrane knocks out Richard Ashby with Js Jh.
Richard is the 7th place finisher earning £1,710. He was down to the felt with 4 tables left and made a great comeback. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 03:30:06 AM While I am typing this I have news of another exit. This time Willie Tann. His AQ was called by Paul Selin's J 6 but he spiked his J.
Wow, I cant catch my breath. Willie Tann is our 6th place finisher £1,710. 5 left. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 03:34:42 AM With 5 left and John McGrane with a lot of chips he made a hefty raise with Yusuf going all in on him. John sighs and asks if he passes could he see his hand. Yusuf agrees, so John passed and showed 6s 8h and Yusuf showed Jh Js :D.
Next hand John Raises with 6s 6c gets called by Gregory's 40k and Aspades Th but spikes his ten on the end to double through Cupcake. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Royal Flush on September 06, 2006, 03:36:43 AM Hellooooooooooo Chilli

David gregory raised to 40k (blinds now 6k 12k). Cupcake goes all in for another 100k. David called with Ac Qc. John had 8s 8h. The board was
Kd Qh 6s Tc Kh John is the 5th place finisher making a nice profit of £1,995. 4 left. Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 04:04:09 AM Omg Flushy, never homer as the bokker of all bokkers. Flushy the prize is yours. We have lost Jim Reid also.
He was very short and after his 20th all in of the comp he got called by Yusuf's Ac 4c. Jim had K 5 and didn't improve. Out in 4th place for £2,216 is Jim Reid. In the space of 5 mins we lost another 1 and we are Heads up. I'm sorry I didnt see what happened to Paul Selin but he made a brave effort and finished in 3rd place for £2,850. I have never seen such quick exits. So fighting for that all important seat is Sami Yusuf 200k & David Gregory 370k Good luck!! Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 04:19:42 AM In tradition of this final, I was gone 5 mins and Yusuf had regained the chip lead. But just now, David Gregory has doubled up. Gregory raised and Yusuf went all in, called by Greogory. He had Jh Qd
Yusuf had Ac 4c. Board 2s 9h Ts Kh Ks For the straight for Gregory. Gregory 330k Yusuf 240k Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Royal Flush on September 06, 2006, 04:25:41 AM Can i make money out of bokking?
Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix Qualifier @ The Sportsman Post by: Chili on September 06, 2006, 04:27:07 AM And quick as a flash it is all over. Gregory went all in with Kh Td and Yusuf called with Ad 6s. Nothing on the board to help Gregory and the hand left him with a paultry 22k.
The next hand it really was an automatic all in and Gregory turned over 3c 5c and Yusuf had Ks Th again. Well done to DAvid Gregory in 2nd place and the winner of £5,700 and CONGRATULATIONS to Sami Yusuf who wins a massive seat in the William Hill Grand Prix and £3,832 extra cash to mess with. A great thanks to the Sportsman and to William Hill for another well organised and succesfull qualifier :)up So here is to the next one in Dublin on Friday. Goodnight all.
