Title: Peter Crouch
Post by: Triple X on September 06, 2006, 09:06:15 PM
Could Peter Crouch finally become the player to overtake Bobby Charlton and become the first Englishman to score 50 goals for his country?!?!?!

11 goals in his first 14 games isnt a bad start!!!

Crouchaldinho!

I won my bet twice this week. Liverpool to outscore the rest of England's players at 6's. :)

Probably not as he isnt in the starting lineup when all the players are fit.

I was thinking more Defoe-Rooney. Although not established yet surely this is the best front line?

You didn't see tonight's game then? Defoe was poo. Just doesn't score enough for me.

At least Owen has the strike rate. Especially for England.

There is no way Crouch will get dropped in the next game.

To prove Villa's prowess in the transfer market, we bought Crouch from Portsmouth for 5 million. We then sold him for 1.5.

Now he is a 7 mil+ England striker...

We (Spurs) sold Crouch for £60,000 and gave QPR a testimonial for one of their old pro's as part of the deal. Then, the same day we sold Crouch, we went and spent £11million on Rebrov.

Well we bought Boumsong for 8.5mil and sold him for 3mil... How's about that for business acumen?

Hang on, we managed to get MONEY for him? Actually, that's quite impressive.  ;goodvevil;

Dean Richards - the most expensive player in world football; not to play for his country

You got #8million in insurance though.

Marcelino was a poorer investment than Boumsong, and Luque may run him close, he is only still here for the balance sheet.

Rebrov is the worst in history. Ferdinand £6million, Thatcher£5million, Armstrong £5million, Ruel Fox £5million - there are more, but I am too ashamed to write them. All brought and then sold for £0.

Spurs, Newcastle and Villa are the biggest fck ups in the transfer market.

In 15 years at Spurs. We only brought 1 player who we were able to sell for a profit. Teddy Sheringham to ManUre in 98 for £3.5million.

I was talking pre Carrick. He is the 2nd in 15 years, although we have bought some others who we could sell for a profit i.e Lennon, Routledge, Dawson, Defoe, Keane etc...

yeah - it appears your team makes a habit of buying other teams rejects and then not playing them only to end up moving them on for no profit as you dont put them in the shop window for long enough to warrant any team submitting any kind of a decent sized bid.

p.s. how is Danny Murphy getting on at the minute?  ;goodvevil;

Mendes wasnt a sold for a profit. Andy Reid (nice one Charlton) ate over £1million in food at Spurs + he cost us £4million (Dawson was only 500k) Davies was a profit and so was Luke Young (£3million) ;scarymoment; ;hide;

Ok, ok I was wrong. in 15 years we have sold 3 players for a profit and spent over £200million in the process.

Thats a brand new stadium up north

We've all had clangers though.

Djimi Traore
Bruno Cheyrou
Igor Biscan
Josemi
Nunez
Vignal
Diouf
Diao
Heskey
Cisse
Baros
Smicer

I'm sure every club could name 5 or 6.

People in general just don't respect his quality. Would be a cert for my England tourney 22 would prob start him up front with Rooney or Defoe.

Dont laugh, but I think Crouchy is technically excellent.....it's just his height that makes him look bloody clumsy.  His first touch is great and anyone that tall who can score with scissor kicks deserves a fair crack IMO.
