The extra chips were about 3% of the total. Could it not just be colouring up?

I personally think it would be too hard to introduce 2 mill extra chips into play, who would they give them to? for them to directly benefit.
I think its more likely 200 alternates for which they took the money but forgot  ;goodvevil; to add them to the official figures. 

This theory is most probably correct - they pinpoint when the error in the count took place and it was when the 5k chips were removed from play.  Harrah's have apparently more or less admitted that this was the likely cause of the error. 

What the ramifications will be, who knows?  What if one of the non-advantaged players chooses to take legal action?  Harrahs should be able to identify who got extra chips from the security tapes, but these could have been destroyed. 

This topic was bought up while I was at WSOP when the final table was about to start.

I've got a taped phonecall from the guy who is after $6m from Jamie Gold.

It went "Hey Jack, listen, if u can sneak under the ropes and plunk an extra 2m chips on Jamie's stack, I'll give you 50% of my 50%"

Harrah's have currently put my $3m on hold, but I'm confident I will get it when it all blow over...

A european pro picked up 10 seat receipts for 10 people he had reserved seats for and when he handed over the 4 25k chips the person at the counter asked what that was for. Before he had chance to realise what was going on the person at the counter realised what a clanger had been made and took the 100k- does everyone really believe this was the only person this happened to? I would say it is far more likely there were 200 people in the tournament who didn't pay because Harrahs couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery and a decision was made to just "forget" to include these people in the final player count. You can imagine Harrahs head of whatever dept, "Just because we've cocked up and forget to collect money from a few people doesnt mean we are liable, we are Harrahs and we now run poker- If we aint got the money then we arent gonna pay it out"

Aristion, if u read page 2 and 3 of the article it would explain all.   They even pinpoint the exact 22 minute period if could have taken place.

I DON'T THINK IT WAS CHEATING, BUT I CAN SAY I SAW A FEW MISTAKES MADE BY STAFF AS AS WE COLOURED UP OUR CHIPS. SO IT WOULD BE EASY FOR MANY THOUSANDS OF CHIPS HERE AND THERE TO HAVE BEEN ADDED ON QUITE INNOCIENTLY BY INEXPERIENCED FLOORSTAFF.

OVERALL WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE AMOUNT OF PLAYERS AND THE AMOUNT OF TIMES WE COLOURED UP THE CHIPS ITS REALLY NO SURPRISE WE ENDED UP WITH A COUPLE OF MILLION EXTRA.

I CAN ALSO SAY AT NO TIME DID ANY DEALER COUNT ANY PLAYERS CHIPS TO VERIFY THE COUNTS EITHER AT THE END OR START OF THE DAY, AND THE FLOOR WAS VERY SHORT STAFFED AT TIMES.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT IT WAS STILL A BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE AND I WOULD RECCOMMEND EVERY POKER PLAYER TO PLAY IN THE WSOP.

hmmm...the guy didn't notice he had 1mill extra in chips? How many chips do you need to have before you don't notice 1mill extra?

Anyone know what the average chipstack was at that stage?

I 'think' Cunninham busted him for $5M, so he mustve had like $4M before the colour ups, you'd think he'd notice.

Will get on Youtube to check it though.

I notice an extra 200 when I have 8k before the break...how can you not notice your chips stack is 20-25% larger?

Yep, $5.5M at the start of his exit hand.

So from 4.5 to 5.5 without doing anything.

yes..because in the off chance that you win it (only 27 players left) and they will find out you had 1 mill more after the break people won sure you and you won't be considered a disgracefull cheat.

Keeping quiet is a great idea. I also think the guy should lose out on the money he already got paid. "I didn't notice that I went from 4.5 to 5mill" my arse.

The players who accepted the extra chips are cheats, nothing more, nothing less.

It is absolutely impossible they didn't notice.

I say virtually the same everytime I put my chips in against Rod with the better hand...
