Title: The Carling Cup Post by: Rooky9 on September 13, 2006, 10:29:24 PM I was listening to talk sport the other week and they were trying to come up with ideas to make the carling cup more attractive... nothing of note really came up.
This comp desparatly needs something - anyone have any ideas? I was thinking perhaps... 1) Rolling subs 2) Sin Bins 3) Pink cards for diving Title: Re: The Carling Cup Post by: Rooky9 on September 13, 2006, 10:30:32 PM Is it even the Carling Cup this year?!!!

Title: Re: The Carling Cup Post by: Graham C on September 14, 2006, 10:14:24 AM TBH, since Mourniho joined Chelsea the League Cup has become more competitive. but only because they have the depth of squad to put a decent second side out - it's still Chelseas 'weaker' team that plays in this. The trouble is that none of the Premiership sides are that bothered about it unless they are playing for nothing else that season. One of the best things they did was move it all forward so the final is early on in the year. I'm not even sure that the lower division sides are that bothered about it - they concentrate on getting promotion. Some have even commented that it's nice to have a good cup run (FA Cup) but promotion is the main target for the season. They could introduce a Christmas break, like the rest of Europe, then have some of the games in this period - ok it won't pursuade managers to put stronger sides in, but the fans may fancy getting out for a game. Other suggestions - make it 60 mins instead of 90, ensforce a ruling that some of the first team must play (can't see this working or being popular though), and I like that Bud ad with multiball :D |
