Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: Djinn on September 14, 2006, 04:56:03 PM Passed Willie Tann's table as a showdown was reached between him and a young French player (probably, going on accent alone) - The board was Q x x 9 8 and Willie flipped the Tc Jc for the nuts, while I think he was up against two pair. I think there was some trapping going on which the youngster escaped, saying, "You're tricky - checking the straight..." to which he got a trademark Tann shrug in return.

Take a look for yourself, he's as orange as... well, an orange.
Anyhow, Boaken, who looks as though he's been in a losing paintball team, raised to 175 preflop (blinds at 25/50), Tango Man and a Michael Palin lookalike called. Boaken then bet 400 on the 2d 8h Qd flop, Michael Palin folded and Tango Man called. Both checked the 4c Turn. River = 7s Tango Man bets 200, which Boaken decides is too much. punish the pinchy Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: AlrightJack on September 14, 2006, 05:15:46 PM Who's got the best poker face?

Bit of a bizarre one really. Although he'd lost some chip previously when his trips were outkicked, this hand took him down to just 400: Mateyboy & Luske checked a K-9-9-x-x board down to the River, where Mateyboy bet, Luske raised, MB re-raised and Luske called. Luske had turned a flush, but MB had flopped Quad Nines. Eek Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: Djinn on September 14, 2006, 06:02:27 PM Henrik Olander, who caught the Updater's attention in Dublin last year, and is undoubtedly one of the strongest young players, just lost a pot of over 14k, leaving him with 6,500 after a promising start. I actually saw this hand all the way through, which is a miracle as the press seem to multiply daily, and quite a few bold lurkers are crowding the tiny gangways between the tables too.
So - Henrik on the button sees a flop of 5d Ac Tc with the small blind Matey. Matey checks, Henrik bets 175, and is raised to 300. Call. Turn: 3c. Check; Henrik bets 350, and another min-raise to 700 from sb-Matey. River: 5s. Now small blind bets out 2k, about a third of his stack. Henrik thinks for a minute (probably about the development of the paired board) before pushing all-in. Small blind Matey calls in a flash with his 8c 5c, and Henrik shows the bare Ahrt before mucking his hand and accepting the loss, without reaction. Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: Djinn on September 14, 2006, 06:11:20 PM :hello: Nun; Karabiner - always a pleasure...
Just watched one of those big circles of gawkers surround a table conveniently located right in the middle of the floor as a big ruling is called for from TK himself: It's the river - the board lies Th 8c 8h 3h Kh and there's a bet and a raise from Gary Jones. The Spanish guy who made the initial river bet for some reason has exposed his hand: Ahrt Jh. Now Gary gets very agitated, talking about his hand being 'over the line' and calling Thomas over for a ruling after two other floor people failed to calm the situation. Thomas rules (fairly, in my opinion) that the hand-exposer can only call, and will subsequently get a 10 minute penalty. That isn't accepted very happily by Gary, who insists Kremser's wrong and is obviously not happy about being called and subsequently losing both the pot and the plot, a little. Thomas says, "the line is not a line for the cards" - it seems unless they touch the muck, they're not strictly dead. So there you go, potential hand exposers. Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on September 14, 2006, 06:13:26 PM Sverre Sundbo, who many of you may remember from London a while back, is currently on around 8k.
He made a tricky laydown a few hands back though. MB raised from early position, two callers, including Sverre who had A-K in the BB. Sverre checks the K-7-4 Flop, MB (not the initial raiser) bet 500 and Sverre made it 1,400. MB called. Sverre then bet 2,000 on the Jack Turn, but MB made it 5,000. Sverre thought and though before finally letting his hand go. "Do you think he had a set?" I asked "Well, he played it like a set, but the problem is that he plays all his hands like a set," replied Sverre. "Its like a circus" they both said in unison during the last break. Although Moneymaker and Raymer don't seem to have made the trip, we still have the likes of Vaswani, Luske, Hachem, Mercier and Hansen, not to mention additions such as Kenna James, Mike Matusow and Phil Ivey.

He's in the worst table with regard to access, squashed in a corner so no idea how he's doing presently.

I'm not accustomed to the modern world we live in. On a serious note, Matt was mugged a couple of days ago whilst leaving a bar, just yards away from the casino. He was knocked unconcious and when he awoke he couldn't rember anything, but his pockets were lightened. There's a distinct aura of threat around these parts and I'd recoomend people act cautiously when travelling the streets alone. River = 8d MB bets out 2k. Zach looks on dismayfully - the 3rd diamond clearly worrying him intently. After mulling it over for a while, shaking his head and tutting in the process, he reluctantly calls with the flopped straight. MB reveals A-Q of spades. flopped str8? Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on September 14, 2006, 09:23:42 PM Paul ‘The Marbella Kid’ Zimbler has doubled up after the previously reported loss to Jim Reid.
This time he had Qc Tc vs Qs Js on a 7s Ts 8h Flop. "Give him his Queen," he demanded, and rather worringly, out popped the Queen. A blank on the River and the pot went to Paul, who now has over 5k. "Cancel that cab," he adds. He seemed very pumped up - consider the table officially banged. This time in the form of poker. With around his starting stack still in tact, he called a preflop raise with Pocket Sevens. When the flop brought a third 7 (7c 4s 2d), his 1.6k bet was called by Mateyboy. Then, on the 9c Turn, he bet 1.6k for a second time and, once again, it was called. River = 3c Nick bets 2k, MB re-raises another 2, and Nick, believing that his opponent has the overpair, smooth calls. To his dismay, MB reveals Kc Qc for the rivered flush. Then, with just 3,900 left, he turns a flush but loses out to a flopped two pair which upgrades to a boat. Nick Slade is therefore OUT. He'd gotten involved on the small blind against a late position player (either caller or small raiser; couldn't see the pot too well) on a board of: 5c 2c 6s. Henning bet out 3k (about a third of his stack) and received a call. The unconnected-looking Kh fell on the turn, and Henning was quickly all in for the rest... a pass saw him show the, er, Td. A fuss was kicking off, and it turned out to be over whether Mark had said, "1,200," or, "Raise 1,200." He seemed to want to put the full 1,500 in front of him, but the button only wanted to call 1,200...quite a lot of aggro over 300, but in the end the full raise went and there was a swift All-in from Mark on the Ahrt 7c Qc flop which got rid of his opponent anyhow. The most remarkable thing that happened during this debate was, however, that I swear the gesticulating Matey lost a front tooth, while explaining to the floorman. He just picked it up and popped it back in. Extraordinary.

A more cleanshaven Mr. Black was tearing up the cash games last night, and just got involved in a pretty enormous pot which sent his neighbour to the rail. Andy looked down at Ad Kh, but there was a bit of a kerfuffle with the dealing, and before taking any action he checked to see whether that particular deal was of the Mis type. No - play was told to continue, and he got into a raising war with the gent on his left, resulting in it all getting all-in. He wasn't thrilled to see Aspades Ahrt against him. But one King on the turn and one on the river helped. Up to 26,000. He says, "Twenty years playing, and I don't think I've ever done that particular outdraw." Well, one for the records! Title: Re: Pokerstars EPT Barcelona - Day 1b - Live Update Interactive Post by: Djinn on September 14, 2006, 11:29:56 PM Andreas Hagen, who somewhere along the line had managed to get himself rather precariously short stacked, got all the chips in against a nearly equal stack with 8h 8d. A middling hand, yes, but not when your opponent has 6d 6s and the flop's Tc 8s 7s...
Turn: 6c ("A good card for me" says Hagen, and he's right, a nine now splits it and only the final 6 outdraws him) River: 5h And he's now up to, at a guess, 12,000. Willie turned round and said, "I'm still here. Not all of us can be as good as Mickey though..."
Well he's got 22,000 which is in pretty good shape, whereas the Bluesquare Legend has 30,800. A lengthy think from his opponent (whose 20k stack wouldn't have liked a 5k loss) and then a pass.
His sunglasses rank as the least silly and the most reminiscent of the Terminator. Picture coming shortly, to compare with some great aviators elsewhere... Nice place, huh?
As I was talking to him, he moved all, saying, "Tell Big Slick that I might be ringing him from home" Well, when Tony turned over Aspades Qs and Mateyboy next door flipped Queens, into didn't look too rosey in Nihcollsville. However, the Ks 7h 6s Js 5c board thought otherwise and Tony is now up to 12k. He just re-raised Mr Antecool's 1.1k preflop bet to 4.1k to take the pot. Whilst Mr Antecool is still running well on 34,850, Andy has climbed his way to 32k after a slow start to the day. Before he was moved to his present location, where he's in the company of Noah Boeken and Andreas Hagen, I saw this slightly odd one:
Henning called a raise from the Under-the-gun Matey in the big blind. Flop: 3d 7s 4h Check-check. Turn: Th Check-check again. River: 7d Henning bets a little take-a-stab-at-it bet of 1,100. Call. It's that special time, when the mind can wander. And here's what you get - my thoughts on 'Don Blandito': the grossest snack this side of the equator.
Pictured here, it's actually what appear to be large kernels of corn, sort of freeze-dried and covered in some kind of savoury powder which smells a bit like catfood. I seem to remember Americans eat something like this, perhaps that's what 'Crackerjacks' are... I don't know. It brings back odd memories of being disappointed as a kid in California when I picked these to eat at a baseball game. Great name, though. Anyway, it's a BREAK right now, but they'll be heading back for the final level of the day in less than five minutes, so better go catch them. Saw Ryan Fronda talking to Paul Parker in the break (yes, that way round) - and he was saying something along the lines of, "you wait for the right hand at the right time..." Something like that, anyway. There seems to be a nice optimism about the British players still remaining, although signs of fatigue are showing here and there.

The turn, 7s, was checked by them both after a bit of thinking. The Qh river didn't appear to make anything new happen, but again it went check, dwell-check. The other guy showed the interesting Qc Ks (I had to check - they weren't both clubs) and the only reaction from Mr. Pink as he lost the pot was that Poker Player Eyebrow Raise. You know the one. Even I do it sometimes.

the worst thing aboutt the week wasnt matt getting mugged or me being a complete div going after them it was the incredible snoring coming from tylers hippo type lungs which incredibly got louder after the mugging. then to cap it off i had to travel home with simon zach which i have to say was a treat of the fragrant variety . GOOD LUCK TO THE BIG SCONEHEAD , .
