Title: Glasgow venue advice
Post by: Martian Martian on August 31, 2005, 11:46:56 AM
Hey there.

I used to play at the Wabash when it was in Dennistoun, but ain't been for over a year. From reading the forum, it's clear that a year is a long time in poker. Now that the Cincinnati is open, what are the numbers like at the Wabash? I was thinking of going along on Friday for a wee spot of bingo - will there be tumbleweed or is it still quite busy?

Cheers,

MM.

Alright Tighto!

Martian Martian - a song by Jonathan Richman which includes the lyric...

Well, here come the Martian Martians
Well, they're baking up a Martian pie
I hope the Martians like me
And give some to I.

He can't sing either.  ;D

WECLOME martian to you from a just outside glasgow body.

teacake , div, Rod and mikky will no doubt be on to fill you in.....eh about clubs

cin cin is just starting to build and a few people are trying to turn that ship the way the punters want..there is a thread somewhere about a double chance freezeout next week with a more layered payout.

that apart i think that riverboat and cin cin otherwise are doing the same sort of thing...although at cin cin apparently you can hire your own table with dealer for sng or attempt to get the owner to run your type of tourney

wabash i dont hear very much about

anyway....

Must admit I've not been in the Wahbash after a guy in the Riveboat told me a tale of chip-dumping & same village play. That was hearsay but it did put me off a bit. Also the location isn't the best (even though I have been known to partake of a wee glass of wine in the Brazen Head).

Cincin's is relatively new, but I'm more impressed with it than the Riverboat.

As Pat said we're pushing them for an alternative to the late bingo nights. There's a single rebuy limit a week on Thursday.

cheers for that info guys.

The single re-buy sounds interesting - what's the score with membership? Just turn up on the night?

I had a fondness for the Wabash - is the Laird still around?

Wabash is every night a bingo fiver, Thursdays start an hour earlier than Riverboat.

Cincin seems to be making changes in response to demand. The Glasgow-poker-playing-regulars are quite happy with the way things are, but theres plenty of potential new comers that are not wanting to play in the rebuy fests.

Riverboat still holds the majority of the poker playing population, and though under duress, it is making small changes in response to the clones....i mean competition. Tuesdays are now £50 nights as from september.

Membership needs ID (passport/DL) - but you can play the night you join.

Hmm, they didn't bother IDing me  ::)

Also, Riverboat as a casino requires 24 hours for membership (or someone to sign u in)

Wabash doesnt bother
