it was pretty obvious from the way he played it he was open-ended.
you didn't do anything wrong because if the rivers not between a 5 and a 10 you know that an all-in would take it away anyway even if you didn't hit the spade.

Sorry -- I am not being rude, but I don't understand either of your points.

Firstly, it was not at all obvious to me that he had a straight draw.  Please explain how you knew.

Also, if you know your ace-high is winning on the river, then why move all-in?  Surely a considerably better play would be to check in order to induce a bluff?

Slightly lucky Snoopy.

You were the aggressor, took charge of the pot and got a card on the end that gets you paid.  He is being very fishy.  If he re-raises you on that ugly flop then the hand is over - He can get away from it if you move all-in IMO.

He called his way to the poor house.
