Title: Would you reply?
Post by: TightEnd on September 20, 2006, 11:23:32 AM
I am probably opening myself up to "Julie" type ridicule but I would like to know if you would reply to this with the information they are requesting.

DEAR WINNER

We wish to congratulate you and formally inform you that you have won the Lottery that was organized by SPONSOR LOTTERIJ AMSTERDAM and we are the agent that will process your payment, We have confirmed the above winning payout for Category " A" winners

Be informed that this lottery promotion was conducted through the Internet worldwide random selection, the participants and winners where picked randomly through a computer ballot system and you have been picked as one of the lucky winners. You are advised to treat this with all seriousness

Your Funds are now deposited in our suspense account in your favor waiting for the immediate remittance into your nominated bank account. Be informed that your winning prize has a hardcover insurance policy that makes it impossible to make any deduction of any kind, until the sum is finally credited into your designated account.

This firm will issue an Irrevocable Guarantee of Payment Bond (IGPB) in your favor, thereby securing the above prize money.

Winners will be referred to an appointed lawyer here in The Netherlands to have their Winning file / claim form notarized in order to obtain the Certificate of Award from the Netherlands Gaming Control Board. All winnings must be notarized here in The Netherlands by order of the N.G.C.B

However, our bank has been notified of this development and the status of your claim.

Following the above, you should fill this attached form and return back to this office via FAX OR EMAIL for vetting process which is a standard practice just to ensure that we are dealing with the right individual and account.

This process is vital and urgent following the instruction from our clients that all prize money should be claimed before schedule

Once again accept our congratulations and do call as soon as you return the form

Regards,

Well if you get an "Irrevocable Guarantee of Payment Bond (IGPB)" then it would be foolish not too.

1. Amsterdam (the European base for Nigerian financial scams)
2. A suspense account (no doubt you are required to pay an ad mistration fee for the release of the winning funds)
3. Must act now time limit

Sounds like a great oppunity to me  ::). No doubt your posting this to see what gullible replies you may get as I can't believe for one moment someone like yourself would even consider replying to such a bogus email.

I've got a suspense account - the suspense comes when you press the 'View Balance' button at the atm

I think the worst are the recruitment ones, you know the type "earn lots, work from home, 3 hours a week etc etc all you need is a bank account".

The scam here is they use the recruits to transport the money they lift from the bank accounts they get access through other scams and the recruit gets all the heat.

I think you are being a little unfair on julian here. He has assured me has has recently won various lotteries over the last month or 2 and is just waiting for the checks to arrive so i think this may be genuine and you should act now ;)
