Now I think I bet too much on the flop as I am committed to call the re raise - opinions?

I agree with you and its a situation I hate being in when I have an overpair to the board  your really hopping for a race at worse in this situation against AK or AQ something like that.

UL though sometimes you just need to fire your chips in if your going to win the tourney rather than lingering about lower payout levels.

Well that hand didnt put me out, I still had 40,000 odd. But with Blinds 2000 4000 was a litle short.

I find AJ on the button and move in. The SB eventually calls with AQ - which held up.

No, but it is an UTG raise from a shorty with a flat-call from a big stack, so passing preflop isn't a bad option, it's quite possible one of them has a bigger pair than you. Once the flop comes, you don't get away.

You cannot pass from the BB for a standard raise when holding 77 - with so much money in the pot, that seems a very negative play to me.

The only way I see of getting away here is to check the flop - the shorty then moves all in (which he would do with 2 overs) The big stack passes - then you pass as well??? I dont think so.

Just one of those hands I was loosing chips on - Unless anyone else has other ideas?

I was still pleased with the result, large field and tough competition- on the bubble (being 54) I only had 8 big blinds !!! (8000 chips)

i agree...this is just one of those hands I guess. nothing else you could do here IMO.

Nothing you could do Paul, perfect call pre flop. Just a sick flop, "no set no bet" is ok in deep stacked comps but i dont see how you can do it here. I bet more on the flop though. There is 28k out there bet 20k make it harder for AK to go in.

Thats why I priced him in - and also if the Big Stack moved all in on the flop, I can get away.

He had been raising alot, and I didnt take him for a Queen on the flop, so bet out on the turn to take the pot.

Yeah i think i probably check raise the flop, if i get in the hand too deep i want to get 2 cards to hit! lol.

I woulda moved in preflop in your first one. You have the perfect squeeze play. The shortie would probably still call the all in in this case but i think there was nothing you could have done postflop.
