Just a thought, but is an internet forum fat club really going to be helpful?

Well a lot of people have used the forum in a past to track thier progress, so probably yes.

Yes its the one called being happy with yourself and not influenced by others. You can only succeed if you are doing it for yourself. Brutal but true.

I too had bought a bike during the summer and decided after BB3 that i needed to do something to lose a bit of weight and so decided to cycle the 10 mile trip to and from work. However i have now decided that i would rather be overweight and alive than thin and dead and i am back within the safer surroundings of my car of a morning.

I will wait for better opportunities to use my bike than riding from one side of manchester to the other twice a day during rush hour!!

Yep, that's the one.

I bought a little computer gismo that tells you how far/fast you go. Last month I did 350 miles.

Well done Gatsby...keep it up!  ;applause;

A couple of years back I ballooned up to 17 stone but managed to lose two stone over a period of four months.

This was indirectly due to weight watchers because, although I never went to one of their meetings, I got hold of one of their calculators which tell you how many points every food is.  I used this to track what I ate each day ( love gadgets! ) and just followed a set dailypoints limit.

Gradual loss of couple of pounds each week and thankfully it's stayed off since too.

Going to the meeting is half the fun as the only bloke in a class of 56 women.
Christmas party should be fun ;)

2lbs this week. It is within my target so should be happy but its not quite 9 or 5 although i do know thats unlikely again as first week was probably mainly fluid.

Starting Weight - 20 stone 13 lbs
Target Weight - 12 stone 13 lbs
Week 01 (04 Oct) - Lost 9 lbs
Week 02 (11 Oct) - Lost 5 lbs
Week 03 (18 Oct) - Lost 2 lbs
Total Loss So Far - 16 lbs (1 stone 2 lbs)
Current Weight - 19 stone 11 lbs

Next Weigh in (25 Oct)

The original goals were
a) Lose 10% so roughly just over 2 stone by New Year
b) Maintain and lose 2 pounds per week
c) To have lost 3 stone by February
d) To have lost 5 stone by May
e) To have lost 7 stone by August
f) To run next years Great North Run
g) Eventually lose 8 stone and get under the 13st mark by 31st December 2007

Ps Hallo Zelda, ty for mail, give em hell in Singapore x :)

nice one. how are you finding it?

Title: Re: WeightWatchers
Post by: Ukgatsby on November 02, 2006, 05:42:09 PM
Ty Ty :)

finding it ok at the moment. WW for those who dont know is based on a daily points system where everything has a points value. The points you are allowed are determined by

a) sex
b) age
c) starting weight
etc

so obviously i get a lot more points daily than say a 20 year old lady who weighs 9 stone and wants to lose 10 lbs

Nothing is forbidden but treats have higher points values so its just about moderation and being sensible. I havent actually started proper exercise yet as am trying to maintain 2 lbs per week loss so will exercise more as i get lighter.

The big moment will be once i have lost a lot more and am sticking rigidly and barely losing as obviously the more you lose the slower it happens. There is no way on earth that the final 1.5 stone will come off in 5 weeks.

Cant speak highly enough of Weightwatchers. Felt really strange joining up and then attending the meeting afterwards and sitting there in a hall full of women as the only guy but after 5 weeks it feels normal and comfortable.

The Christmas Party should be fun ;)
