Title: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: Newmanseye on September 29, 2006, 08:34:26 AM I'm on a cash table at the moment and he is raising 30BB brfore the flop and wned he is miles behind he is catching everything he needs.
I have doubled up by waiting on cards a couple of times but he has also busted me so I am currently even, now should I just continue to wait for the cards or is there another way to beat this guy? Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: matt674 on September 29, 2006, 09:48:48 AM depends on the type of table you are playing, if its a full ring of 9 or 10 players then you can afford to be more patient, wait for the big hands then stick it in and hope that it holds up.
If you are playing at a short handed table then you may have to find spots to gamble with him - if he sees you are willing to gamble then it may slow him down a little. If thats not an option then it may well just be a case of finding another table. Stay wait for cards and bust him :) seriously tho a cash game with a guy like this is +EV Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: M3boy on September 29, 2006, 09:55:38 AM This guy is VALOOOOO. What you may find is that you gamble with him say twice, he busts you twice and then leaves!!! Just find another table ;) Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: SupaMonkey on September 29, 2006, 10:03:06 AM I thought this was gonna be a story involving flushy :D

Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: MrsLime on September 29, 2006, 05:58:55 PM No one has pointed out the cons of playing against people like this. For example, your variance has just rocketed off the scale, which might be dangerous if you are playing on a short bankroll. One guy I knew sat at a maniacal £50 PLHE and spun £200 up to £2000. The maniacs looked like they were going to be donating all night, but the guy decided to leave, as now a significant portion of his roll was on the table (and he was covered). The value is irrelevant if you can't take the swings.
Also, beware of running straight into someone else's nuts. For example, maniac open raises to 30BB. You call with TT. Next guy along moves all-in for another 40BB. Look what trouble you have got yourself into. Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: fergus8 on September 30, 2006, 07:17:37 AM i play like this maniac
i rathole my winnings i buy in for the minimum then pupupuspuspushhh i find it works if u go for short blasts then super passive then leave or pushpushpush again Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: Ch@d on October 01, 2006, 04:01:33 AM for starters, show the hand. I go offline for the weekend and we have this on the forum. lol Opinions aside mate, I dont rate anyone that moves all in everyhand regardless of the cards, thats not a good player thats a Gambler. One last word. MUG! Title: Re: Maniac all in and catching everything Post by: snoopy1239 on October 02, 2006, 08:54:11 AM I come across players like these now and again. The key is to remain composed and not to get frustated if they either suck out on you, pay off someone else, or bugger off in a hit and run.
Also, be very aware of the players behind you when calling big pre-flop bets. |
