Title: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 03, 2005, 02:06:14 PM The blue Square sponsored Grosvenor Grand Prix qualifiers start in earnest this week. For those not familiar with this Annual comp, you can ONLY qualify by entering a £100 rebuy qualifier. The top 15% of ALL entrants go through. So if there are, say, 20 runners, then 3 seats are awarded. 60 runners, 9 seats, etc. That's ALL you need to do to qualify - finish in the top 15%. All the £100 rebuys go into the Main Prize Pool, for the Grand Final, which takes place at Walsall 15th & 16th October.
The Prize pool is GUARANTEED at not less than £250,000, & you can reckon on around £100,000 to the winner. I have enteted - & qualified for this - for the last 3 years, & I have estimated that the comp has an equivelant "hypothetical" entry value of somewhere in the region of £1,300 to £1,400, so it has to be great value. This weeks qualifiers are at...... Today (Saturday) - The Vic Tuesday - Huddersfield Wednesday - Walsall & Liverpool Thursday - Cardiff & Brighton Friday - Online only, at Blue Square.com We are trying to find out who has qualified so far - they started qualifiers last Sunday at The Vic, & Thursday at Ramsgate, & yesterday there was a Blue Square online qualifier, the third to date I believe. What we want to do is keep a running list of qualifiers on blonde, so if you have already qualified, please let us know, & we will construct a running list. WE need LOTS of blondeites in this one, & then we can all hook up at Walsall in October. The easiest Casino in whjich to qualify? I usually find Salford a doddle, though it's a rotten drive for me, across the peaks in the dead of night, & up the horrendous & never ending A6. Those who attempt to qualify early tend to find smaller fields. The later you leave it, the bigger the fields, but that just means more seats. The last few nights of qualifiers have HUGE fields, as eveyone scrambles for a seat. Don't forget - let us know if you have qualified, & where. And where & when you will be playing, so the blondeites can hook up. Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 03, 2005, 02:17:21 PM So you already know you will not qualify on Wednesday then Red? That's realistic, if nothing else......
On that basis, I suppose Ariton will play all 45 qualifiers. Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! On that basis, I suppose Ariton will play all 45 qualifiers. I would point out that I have always qualified for this in the past at my firstat tempt, but I might bok myself BTW, bok is the Romany word for luck Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 03, 2005, 02:30:39 PM "BOK" = Luck in Romany? There you go, we learn a little every day - you could not have told us that 3 days ago! Is there a whole Romany language? What's Romany for "firstat tempt"......? Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: RED-DOG on September 03, 2005, 02:39:02 PM Yes, there is a whole language, but sadly, its dying, I speak less than my parents, my children speak less than me
The form most of us use now is called 'Poggardi Jib' (Broken Speech) because some of the old words are missing Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: snoopy1239 on September 03, 2005, 02:46:29 PM Good Lord it's bright in here.

Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 03, 2005, 04:17:07 PM Ooh-er........
By the way, I forget to mention something at the start of this thread....... The thread is largely about Grosvenor & Blue Square, as it relates to the Grand Prix. blonde have a commercial partnership deal with Blue Square which, amongst other things, helps, along with Rank Group, to facilitate blonde doing Live Updates at Grosvenor Festivals, especially those sponsored by Blue Square.com. Essentially, they help give us facilities at the Venues, & we reciprocate by giving them a mention wherever appropriate. They also buy content from blonde, exclusively written for their website, for which they pay a fee. It is very important for our credibility & integrity that you are aware of these things, & that you know where we are coming from. No secrets here! Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Come and introduce yourself to Yogi, before you come to Blackpool. I'll be a happier bear away from my cave.

Post by: redsimon on September 04, 2005, 12:41:49 PM Re: Blue Square online sats. Are the prizes just the entry into the GP at Walsall or is any hotel or travel exes included? Might play one of the Friday 'uns as unlikely to be able to play a live one.
Plus is Grosvenor/ Blue square updating a list of qualifiers and prize pool? Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 04, 2005, 12:55:24 PM I have asked Blue Square to keep us updated with a list of who qualifies, & we will post it here, progressively, if they do. Will find out about the "package" Simon. Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: Royal Flush on September 04, 2005, 02:32:57 PM no expenses, just the buyin
Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: Yogi-Bear on September 04, 2005, 02:59:37 PM Every participating Grosvenor should have a list up of how many qualifiers to date, and prize fund which is 250,000 at the moment. They should have how much each qualifier has made so far on display too.
I will post up on here tonite the current totals when i get in. Yogi Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: tikay on September 05, 2005, 03:37:25 AM Thanks Yogi, that's EXACTLY what we need. If you can persuade other Grosvenor CardRoom managers to do the same, we can keep the list of qualifiers updated on here, & see how the blondeites are doing too.
Top man you. Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: Yogi-Bear on September 05, 2005, 03:48:39 AM Thats me
Now unfortunately Blue Square havent gotten around to giving us the figures for their second and third Qualifiers. So officially we have 15 people qualified for a total prize fund of £250,000, that has been guaranteed by Blue Square. As and when I update the figures I will endevour to do so on here, or let my trusty rusty assistant do so. HEHEHEHEHE Yogi Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified! Post by: AlrightJack on September 07, 2005, 05:35:12 PM Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose the names of players who have qualified unless they have signed a publicity form. So, we will have to rely on Blondeites owning up to having qualified. However, the screenames of players who have qualified online are not subject to this, so, from the three Blue Square qualifiers to date, the 9 qualifiers screenames are (real names listed if already in public domain):
1st Qualifier thepianoman - ? foxystu - Stuart Fox alexkong - ? 2nd Qualifier CHIMPER - ? Riverrroe88 - ? fish4nits - Greg Hill 3rd Qualifier Jailbird1 - ? Dmobbs - ? TheDoors - ? Obviously I know all their real names but I'm not at liberty to say, but if anyone else can fill in any of the blanks, be my guest... P.S. Spotted that I'd typoed Greg's screename and laughed so much I thought I'd leave it as it is rather than correct it to fish4nuts... Title: Re: Grand Prix Time - time to get qualified!
