Title: "Deep stacks" Post by: Royal Flush on September 03, 2005, 06:24:58 PM Stars have a tourney at 21:15 BST tonight $30 freezeout with 5,000 chips a 30 minute clock and staring blinds of 10-20, when u consider the speed of online play and the starting levels of 10-20 rather than 25-50 this structure compares to UK main events. I cant think of a cheaper way of getting festival type experience.

And i just bubbled in the Blue Square $200 freezeout, grrr, series of beats just wish they had happened earlier! Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: The_nun on September 04, 2005, 12:26:37 AM I went out early, flopped a straight, jammed it but guy was too commited i guess... he stayed in with me and got lucky on the river to give hi ma F/H.. Same guy had got lucky with me on my 1st major loss of my chips, again to a river. Just could not get him off his hand even tho he was well behind till the river
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: The_nun on September 04, 2005, 12:28:53 AM Seems that my internet poker is full of bad beats again today,, My live game is fine,,Need to rest up from it I think..
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: redsimon on September 04, 2005, 10:43:46 AM Anyone go "deep" in this? Did it last long? Sounds like a good initative from 'Stars. Lets hope theres more coming.
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: tikay on September 04, 2005, 11:10:28 AM I heard they had 1,100 runners, & it took all night - fantastic, what a GREAT idea! Others take note, this is just awesome.
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: Div on September 04, 2005, 11:13:39 AM I saw someone on another site suggest it was a practise run for the WCOOP events structure.
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: redsimon on September 04, 2005, 11:18:27 AM I saw someone on another site suggest it was a practise run for the WCOOP events structure. WCOOP's been running for 3 years so I'd be surprised. I'm hoping they'll be regular in all formats ie NLHE PLO/8 PLO PLHE etc. If they were probably never go to another casino £20 rebuy comp. Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: jbsc7769 on September 04, 2005, 12:59:10 PM In the end it was a $33k prize pool and lasted just under 11 hours. A tremendous structure and looks like it was a huge hit. I would love to see more of this on the sites.
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: redsimon on September 04, 2005, 01:15:37 PM I see there another one planned for 11.15 pm UK time next Saturday.
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: Ironside on September 04, 2005, 01:51:55 PM a nice 3-5k stack with stars structure and 30 min levels around 7pm (gmt) each week night would grab my intrest
Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: Royal Flush on September 04, 2005, 02:44:36 PM It did take forever, but if it was once a week i dont think people would mind.
Better yet would be to keep it at 200 runners! Apaprently the tourney name last week was something like 'WCOOP Test 1'. Title: Re: "Deep stacks" Post by: jbsc7769 on September 04, 2005, 04:46:31 PM My Understanding is that it will be running on a weekly basis.

Apaprently the tourney name last week was something like 'WCOOP Test 1'. None of the WCOOP events has more than 2500 starting chips. this "deep stack" has 5000. None of the WCOOP NLHE events will have less than 1100 entrants, thi was capped at 1100. Go figure ??? |
