Post by: Sheriff Fatman on October 02, 2006, 09:21:42 AM The only hand that makes any sort of sense for him to play like this is T9, probably suited.
If he's aggressive its a hand he might have raised with pre-flop. Betting out the OESD on the flop and calling a min raise makes sense. Calling the (very small) turn bet also makes sense, given the stacks. (Think you need to bet more here!). Bingo, on the river he hits a straight. If he's got a set then he's waited too long to bet as the board is scary looking by the river with the broadway cards. Anything else has been played very bizarrely. Sheriff Title: Re: Should I Call? Sheriff I agree...the turn bet is too small. However I wouldn't be surprised if he's over played AK or AJ. I would call this. (and probably do my chips in but I don't know anything about this player and against 2p would be good enough in this situation following this bet) Title: Re: Should I Call? Post by: temp0r on October 02, 2006, 10:34:18 AM the min-raise preflop is dodge. i wouldn't be suprised if he had 10-9 or trip kings here. personally i check-call the river rather than bet out. KJ is always a pile of vulnerable bollocks..

He was the original raiser pre-flop, then he led out a bet on the flop. Your re-raise of his bet is very small and he might see it both ways, i.e your holding is weak, b. you try to trap him. You then proceed to throw min bet on the turn which he flat calls as by now he is getting pretty good odds to see the river. Now you bet the river and he re-raises you, and puts you in a difficult spot. The question you should ask yourself why would he raise you? what prompted him to make this raise? What were you actions before this hand, and his actions. This hand is not dissimilar to the hands you have posted early. there are reasons behind each raise and bet, and you are either trying to control the betting, gain information, or trying to bet to increase the size of the pot. There are few hands that can beat you by this point and unless he is a complete maniac you are probably behind. I am not a big fan of small raises and re-raises unless I am a huge favourite of to win the hand by the river. In each hand that is played, I ask myself questions; is my hand good enough to play it in the first place, how much shall I raise, is my hand the best and will I be able to make my opponent to fold if my hand is not the best, what my opponents likely to play? do they play position well, what do they think I have, what is my position? Title: Re: Should I Call? Post by: DC on October 06, 2006, 01:59:55 PM So what happened Snoop? Was it 9-10 like we suspect or was the guy just a complete nutter? Or did you fold and we'll never know?!? :D
Title: Re: Should I Call? Post by: snoopy1239 on October 06, 2006, 06:51:03 PM He had Poket Fives.
I incorrectly called because T-9 was the only hand I could feasibly put him on. At this time in the morning people bluff too often for me not to make the call when I believe I'm only potentially up against one winning hand. I was very shocked to see Pocket Fives as my opponents don't tend to bet it out and flat-call the raise. This was a very good move by him and it payed off. |
