Title: showing hands
Post by: cambo on October 05, 2006, 07:32:19 PM
whats everyones opinions on this? theres a club in glasgow i play sometimes where theres a goldmine of info on show, after 80-90% of pots the cards are shown.

myself i rarely show, unless its against a certain player whos invloved in a lot of pots ill show a bluff to tilt him up a bit hopeing that the next time we are invloved ill have a hand to bust him.

ill also show sometimes when i have a monster so they think im always playing good cards.

so what you think show or not to show?

I'm more of a "show" person, (I always have the goods) Red rarely shows, nor Thewy, Maria never - only see her show a hand once, & that was at Gutshot - Matey Boy Re-Raised her, and she then Re-Re-Raised him, he passed & showed A-8, she showed A-8.....

I hardly ever show my cards so that I don't give out information. I did show my quad 10's when I was in a hand with just mikkyT, I had taken a lot of chips off of him and wanted to show that that time I wasn't bluffing. I wouldn't normally do that though.

I definitely don't show when I bluff because I like people to think I'm really tight! ;D

That's what you're supposed to think!

I'm a no shower.  I will show on occasion if I'm feeling in a nice mood and someone has invested a lot in a pot and folded after a lot of deliberation.  This of course does not apply if I am bluffing :D (which I never do, by the way)

I will show if I want to send out a message or Tilt someone up - this can backfire though, when you re raise them with the goods and they dont believe you, and call with their rubbish and put u out of a comp.

Generally I will not show - keep them guessing

i show about 40% of the time and its basically to give a message that i want to give them

i will show bluffs sometimes its to get them to think i bluff alot and then again sometimes its to make them think next time i will have a hand

sometimes i show them the goods so that they think i only play with the goods or to make them think next time will be a bluff only to have the goods next time

i mix up when i show and when i dont so that i give off the info i want to give off and confuse the people n the table so they dont know where they are

only problem i have online is that i cant show a hand iam folding with noone left to act i find that this is just as valueable as showing a hand i won with

If they want to see my hands they have to pay for it.

There are very rare occasions that I will show my cards, but I will have a good reason to do so, i.e. to re-inforce their idea about my play.

I prefer watching from showing... so sometimes I might invest small amount of chips in order to see what others might hold...

i never show unless i feel very sorry for someone who has deliberated over a fold decision. that said, i have shown bluffs to people who piss me off online:)

I like to mix it up. Show good hands, show bad hands. If your shows are predictable, then it becomes easy for someone to get a read on you.

Sat night in scarborough, local rebuy tourney on the bubble, short stack was trying to hang on for dear life with around 5K back after posting his 4K BB. Board folds round to yours truly on the button, who raises it up. That was the point I realised he only had 5K back, and though "shit, that was a bad move". Not as bad as him folding right enough, and I showed him the 6 2 o/s.

Surprisingly enough he departed next hand ....
