Title: Poker team events..
Post by: kvnstv on October 08, 2006, 09:45:15 AM
Playing a poker team event for the first time this week. Was wondering if anyone has played one of these before and what kind of adjustments need to be made? (I think it works 10 point for placing first etc, team with highest points win type thing). Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Team events are a bit silly and encourage questionable tactics.

The correct way to play is to collude and chip dump.

For example, let's suppose the final table has five members of the 'So Comma Crew' and five members of 'Team Suited Pair'.  If a member of 'Team Suited Pair' moves all-in, then all members of 'So Comma Crew' should also move all-in (regardless of their holecards) because this dramatically increases the chances of the 'Team Suited Pair' member being eliminated from the table.  However, knowing that this is correct strategy, all members of 'Team Suited Pair' should also move all-in.  After this hand, one player will probably have loads of chips.  He should now chip-dump to his fellow team members in order to secure the top five places.

i hate "team poker" where 2 members of the same team can end up on the same table for reasons MrsLime pointed out

the only way to play team poker is to have mini events with 1 member of each team in each comp with points awarded for placings

or HU comps
