Title: in the bb, coming up for FT
Post by: Claw75 on October 08, 2006, 07:09:56 PM
just thinking over my exit hand from a MTT the other night.  11 players left, I've got about 35k in chips.  Average is just over 90k and I'm sat in about 8th place.  Blinds are 4000 8000.  We are playing 6 handed and I'm in the bb.  folded round to the button, who goes all in (he has me just covered).  This is the third time round the table he has done this, and I've had total shite every time and had to give my blind away.

I called with Jc Qc, and out I went.  I keep thinking back that maybe I should have waited for a better opportunity to get all my chips in first, but time wasn't really on my side.

So, was this an OK call, a bad call, or a really bad call?

this depends entirely from what you want out of the tournament. if you're playing to win it's an instant call. you're beating most middle pairs with QJ suited strangely enough so even if he wasn't on a complete steal it's oright. if you'd rather wait for those behind you to get knocked out passing is fine but considering the blinds and my way of playing tournaments its a definate call.

35k is 4 and a bit BBs - it might be better to think about making a move before you get so low?

Good point.  I will have to dig out the hand histories to see what happened coming up to this hand.  I actually can't recall for the life of me what state my stack had been in on the lead up to this.

Say she was, say she lost, say she got 35k change in the pot, and is now in the BB.

What's the move?

I suppose this was on Tribecca?

I have become increasing frustrated with final table on there.  It seems everytime I decide to make a move someone either gets there chips  in before me.

I don't think its  a bad call and you must fancy that your racing, all your looking for in this situation is to have two live cards.  Realistically if you don't get a double up in this spotn or in the next few hands by the time the blinds come back round they'd have probably gone up again and when you do double up it won't mean much.

call quickly.

you only need about 36% equity to make this a +ev call. You'll easily have this and more vs his range. You're too short to pass up +ev.
