Title: Ukraine v Scotland
Post by: Decider on October 11, 2006, 03:27:43 PM
Predictions? Almost as tough as taking on France at Hampden, so another fine performance is required to get something from this game.

I'll go for Ukraine 1 - 2 Scotland

Just because I'm an optimist.

If only we can get bandit to bet on Ukraine we'll be on a winner ;)

using the premise that after the french game we have used most of our luck and will be blowing oot our arses after 30 minutes i predict

ukraine 2 scotland nil

but hey they only beat the faroes 1 nil was it?

Yes, but the fact we have won all 3 qualifiers so far should have the guys bursting with confidence and ready to put the shackles on shevchenko and co. As long as we give a good account of ourselves I'll be happy, but obviously a victory would be best.

Come on Scotland, 4 in a row, not much to ask!! :)

Im gonna go by experience here......

90% of the time Celtic go out and beat a top european side like Barca etc etc, they usually get humped 2-0 the very next weekend by someone like Falkirk or the likes, so after scotland amazing win against France i think the 'big game come-down' will kick in and they will lose tonight, 2-1 (with shevvy getting both and Kenny miller scoring scotlands goal)

Ukraine 2 (shevvy x 2) v Scotland 1 (Miller)

Im not really fussed who wins tonight, but would be nice for my fellow countrymen, if my prediction didnt happen!

Saturdays effort will have taken its toll, especially on those lacking match fitness, and I reckon Scotland will be pretty flat tonight.  Ukraine are no great shakes but it will take another massive effort to get a result.

1-1 Final score.

I'll take that.

OH FLOWER OF SCOTLAND

I predict a humping by the Scots. The Russians will be no match for the pride of scotland.

Ohhhh Christ here he comes......the saviour...Kris Boyd!!

How can anyone possibly rate this guy as a player, he is pish.

scored a few goals for a non old firm team 2 years ago, and he signs for the old firm and crumbles, now scotland are turning to him???? WHY?

If he played for Celtic it would be a different story ::)

Typical result. Georgia equalised against italy though... No McFadden for the next game. Its hotting up!

No it wouldnt, dont talk rubbish, there are plenty of celtic players that i could say the exactly the same thing about, but they aint playing for Scotland right now, so i didnt mention them.

For someone who doesn't give a toss about international football, you sure do post a fair bit on the subject.

we were crap tonight, midfield was brutal, especially ferguson, the guy refuses to take any responsability whatsoever on the ball.pretty hard to pick anyone that played well :redcard:

the good news for scotland is that

1) its an away defeat via a team ranked higher than us
2) we already have 1 away victory
3) its 2 teams that get through to the finals not the 1 that we have been used too

the bad news for scotland is

1) we still have to play france italy and georgia away
2) we still have to play italy ukraine and lithunia and georgia at home
3) we are only the 4th seeds in the group with only 2 teams going through

in order for scotland to quailfy we need 100% record against the 3 teams ranked below us we also need to get another 6 points from the 4 games left against the teams ranked above us this should alow us to secure a top 2 spot

personally i would be happy with a 3 place in this group which would hopefully give us a better seeding for the wc 2010 and hopefully we wont get 3 teams that finished in the top 8 of the last wc in the draw

C'mon Scotland

on Saturday morning I'd have taken three points from these two games

100% and 4 points should be enough.

perhaps, but three points are fine.
An away in Ukraine was always an outsider, therefore
three points is adecent result. I'd have taken 9/12 here considering
we still have home games v Lithuania, Ukraine and Georgia.

Can't complain really, we didn't play that well at all last night. I'm happy that we got 3pts from the two games. Not very impressed with Schevdiveko but there you go, that's football.

I think Karma had a lot to do with it, they had the England game on another screen and when Crotia scored there 1st there was some mild applause. Within 30 secs ( enough time to look back at the Scotland game and adjust ) Ukraine scored. :( Then Croatia scored again, followed by more mild applause, followed by even more mild applause when they saw exactly how Croatia got their second. :) I think it was these 2 bursts of mild applause that caused us to firstly have a player sent off, then lose a 2nd goal.

Karma sucks!
