Post by: LukieD on October 11, 2006, 08:17:01 PM You will have to remove the HDD and install it on another laptop as a slavIde drive. You can google to find tutorials. If you aren't confident doing it yourself Im sure a local computer repair shop can do it for you.
Title: Re: HELP Laptop Fire!!! Post by: mikkyT on October 11, 2006, 08:21:12 PM You can install the drive on any PC it doesnt have to be another laptop. But you will need a 2.5" to 3.5" cable adapter as I think the ribbon cables have different plugs. If you plug the drive into your laptop it should be a straight fit - heres hoping you will have the correct cable to install it as a slave drive. :)
But your data will more than likely still be intact. Title: Re: HELP Laptop Fire!!! Post by: mex on October 11, 2006, 08:27:57 PM thank you guys data is fine lappy fires up and runs, make noises just screen that is blank, ......................i can't type on this keyboard its Awful..............

You can certainly run the laptop using an external monitor. Plug the external monitor into the vga socket on back of laptop then boot the laptop. You might need to press the Fn key and either F6 or F7 to activate the external screen. If you buy an external box, quite cheap on ebay, you can connect the old hard drive probably via USB to either a new laptop or desktop then you can copy any data you need across to the other machine.
