Title: New Boots and Panties
Post by: Karabiner on October 11, 2006, 08:27:54 PM
I went shopping in town today and one of the items on my list was the old Ian Dury album "New Boots And Panties" which I've not heard in ages so I popped into the only indie music shop in Nottingham that I know of, it's called Selectadisc and is the last of a dying breed. I like it because everyone is very laid back in there and they're also much cheaper than the major high street stores.
So I wander in and look under "D" and search through the Ian Dury stuff and the album I'm looking for isn't there but I do find a double CD compilation of all of his greatest hits and I can hardly believe my eyes when I see the price....£4.99.Well it sounds too good to be true so I saunter up to the counter and ask the young guy working if this is really the price.

Yes he says "it's £4.99"

"Lovely" said I "I can't resist a bargain although I was really looking for "New Boots and Panties"

There was a very, almost imperceptible hesitation before he asked "Is that a compilation ?"

"Yes" I replied, completely unaware of my possible faux-pas, but having realised several hours later on my return home, what it must have sounded like, I would like to commend the young man for playing a remarkably  straight bat.

My three year old really likes 'leaving on a jet plane', The new version featured in the advert not the John Denver orginal. Well I was looking on itunes music store to download and I took a wrong turn and stumbled across a song I love and have not heard in ages;  in your eyes by peter Gabriel. Its featured in the film 'say anything'. You guys heard anything lately that you forgot how great it was?

Always great to hear a fav song you haven't heard in AGES. My latest long lost track is:

'As We Come (To Be)' by the Young Disciples.......Carleen Anderson at her finest

Mrs Red bought some new boots yesterday and put them on to show me.

Now all I said was "Can I see what they look like without the rest of your clothes distracting me?" and she called me something rude and stomped off!

She wants me!!

Billericay Dicky was worth the £4.99 on it's own:

I had a love affair with Nina in the back of my Cortina

A seasoned up hyena could not have been more obscener.

She took me to the cleaners and other misdemeanors,

But I got right up between her rum and her ribena.
