Title: Do pot odds justify the call?
Post by: tantrum on October 12, 2006, 02:24:39 PM
I watched the game and this what happened:
Ok Fuljaus is an underdog but the pot odds are good to call; he has to pay 13.5k to win 53.5 k
I just wonder if this is a way to play.

What about Fuljaus 1st call of all in?

Lol, he was getting 1.5 to 1 to call your bet with a player to act on a gutshot draw (10 to 1)

So no he wasnt getting odds to call!

He's 4 to 1 to beat the other two guys.

Calling the final raise of 13.5k to win 53.5k. Pot is giving him just about 4-1.

So sort of has the odds for calling the raise. (Of course there are more factors than just pot odds that go into a tournament call like this though, for instance he doesn't know you definately have 2 pair, and doesn't want to be labelled as weak, his stack size, what knocking you out means, etc...)

Calling the original 10.9k is a far worse play than calling the 13.5k raise may/may not have been. Pot was only giving him 5/3 at that point.

I have only posted this hand as sometimes I think I missing something here.

When I get weird calls like that, I think perhaps I am going crazy, and that my limited poker knowledge is deteriorating.

I knew that the other player was on the draw and did not have a set, and neither of them had str8.  But Fuljaus call was so weird, that I thought perhaps his twisted mind saw something that i am oblivious to.

Just a fish.

If no-one made calls like this, we'd all just be paying rake.
