My internet connection is fine, I can go on any website. However, all of the poker sites I play on keep freezing, and some won't even allow me to log in.
HELP!

is the speed of your connection ok? what about uninstalling the poker programmes and then download again? try that and it might work

Speed is fine, not a problem. I have about 8 poker site programmes!
They have been working fine all day, but stopped about an hour ago.
Ladbrokes, for example, "connects to server", then "loads graphics", then freezes. It even says in the lobby that my connection is excellent.

Temporarily disable your firewall then try the sites again

just try 1 programme to find out if it works. it wont take long

you might want to check with tiscali they might have a betting site bar on your connection

Does anyone know anything about spyware? My computer keeps telling me its infected ans takes me to sites that are supposed to remove it - but i dont know if that is just part of the virus?! I have tried spybot but the problem seems to remain... any advice would be gratefully received.

rooky you are infected and part of the infection is why it takes you too the site in question

goto www.download.com and download some freeware or shareware and get it removed

do not use a poker site or finaical transcation untill your clean

rover tiscali is your isp i think you might need to check with your isp and see if they put a barr on you

Turned of firewall, it seems to have worked. But what happens in 5 mins when firewall comes back on?

you need to set your firewall to allow yopur poker programs

it is already set to allow them, always has been.
Firewall came back on, poker site froze again.

Please explain what a bar is and why they might have put one on me. Thank you.

Thanks iron... I am having a bit of trouble with not being on a poker site until i go out of this comp thou! there isnt anything worth stealing from it anyway!

they proberly haven if its working now

but some ISPs have 18 bars that people put on there accounts to stop them going to bookmakers and casinos they do this if there is a problem gambler in family or if they think there kids might use them

normally you have to ask to get this service put on but i know of 2 people that had it put on them by accident

mind you you proberly would even be able to access this forum if it had happened

you need to update the firewall to allow the programs again as it looks like its now blocking them

Re spyware there seems to be some real nasty spyware/malware about at the moment.

I've had something for the past week that affected any Google searches I did.  Results would come up but first three times I'd click on a link it would redirect me to a false site showing other search results.

Spybot and adaware didn't detect it ( in fact it slowed spybot right down ) and I've had to download a couple of other ones to help. 

The AVG Anti Spyware seems very good ( different program from AVG anti virus ) but I ended up having to delete all restore points and run it in safe mode before getting rid of the spyware.

I also run spyware blaster now to try and stop the stuff getting on my computer in the first place. Prevention is better than cure!

Delete them from the list of programs then next time you connect to the poker sites it will ask you to allow or deny it.
Hopefully it will get it right then

Just got  a new lappy and came with norton, that seems to freeze up alot of poker sites.

Need to go back to bullguard.

Look, I'm not having a go and this isn't a personal attack or anything; but, could you possibly use full stops?  Just so we can tell where one sentence begins and another ends.

Yes, I can re-read your post three times and then it does make sense.  But is it so much trouble to type a full stop?  Since people are spending their time reading your message, I think it would be courteous to do so.

Also, of course, you risk being misunderstood if matters get complicated or technical.
