I think it should but maybe he would have expected you to check it to him if you had the ace and push preflop with a pp.

it's a truly shocking call. simple as that really. Sure he's got 103k in chips but what's he calling this bet for? Pab was on the BB so could have any two  cards..including the 5, Ace and the FD...if he has any part of the flop the guy who called is behind...even to a pocketpair he's behind...

I couldn't make that call with that hand.

Yes but he's ahead if Pab doesn't have a piece of the board. Hence, if he thinks Pab wouldn't be pushing here with a hand, he calls.

that's an interesting point...
Like I said pab could also have a pocketpair and be ahead but...IMO some bets you just can't call. this would be one of them, you are only ahead to a complete bluff. it's a waste of chips IMO. He had the chips to call him and that's why he did. He wouldn't have called this is he had 50k chips as opposed to his 103k

Was going to comment on the hand until i saw one vital piece of information

$200+$15 Hold'em No Limit - Level XIV (750/1500) - 2006/10/15 - 21:52:36 (ET)

Its the sunday donk-a-thon on pokerstars, a tournament full of $2 triple shootout and turbo satellite qualifiers. Most of whom don't even think about what their opponents may be holding in their hand let alone the complexities of stop 'n' go plays. Provided they have two cards that add up to 20 or more in go the chips - hey it works on celebrity poker club!!

i know quite a few people now who win their seat into the big one and unregister to play the second chance as there are less runners.

either way i've noted the name just in case our paths cross on the green baize - i like people who call all in bets with king high no pair no draw ;)

The only problem is his stack; I am not a big fan of going against huge stacks with the bluff.

With your stack, being tight, tight rock, I would be reluctant to flat call his raise with QJ and planning stop and go.  At this stage of tourney, IMO the stack sizes are very important, and the smart moves work better on medium stacks; they are dangerous against short and big ones. If he calls you and you are not bluffing, he still has 90k left.

i think its a very good call. It is doubt full pab would just flat call preflop with any Ace, maybe AA but even if he did why would he chase his opponent off.

Pab's oppo also expects  him to push or fold a small pocket pair, i think his opponent put him on filth or 88,99, or TT. If pab has filth he is infront, if pab has 88,99,TT he has outs.

yeah i didnt wanna shove preflop as id have definately got a call. Still dont know if i call in his shoes but i can see why he did. I picked the wrong person to stop n go, wasnt really thinking at the time, was still smarting from losing a massive race a few hands previous

I think personally with his chip stack and the fact hehas raised then the Stop n' Go aint the best move here.

I don't think I would have called on just under a 10th of my stack though with K high, unless I really thought you where at it.
