Title: Do you try to avoid certain players?
Post by: Sark79 on October 21, 2006, 09:07:19 PM
I have a list of about eight players on pokerstars HU games that I avoid. This isn't through being afraid of them, it is because they are so slow at playing.  This drives me insane and I start to get rattled.  When they get a time countdown every hand they play it gets so frustrating that I can't deal with it.  The four player HU on pokerstars are excellent but two mega slow players can make the games last for over an hour sometimes.  I like it to be fast and flowing always

Are there any regular players you play online or Live that you prefer to stay away from?

If I am playing 6 seater NLHE cash I will try and avoid picking a table with more than one 'good' player on it (as far as I can judge).

It's not a case of fear, it's just less likely to be profitable.

Jak.

I look at it like a Boxer would.  If he can pick two fights that have equal money and are both going to get him the crack at a title somewhere down the line, it is better to avoid the dirty fighter that may head butt him or use other cheating tactics. I am not suggesting playing slow is cheating, but I can't deal with overly slow players who let the clock count down every single hand. At some point there should be a rule on this sort of thing, even when he gets delt AA he lets the clock count down. It drives me insane

true, that is a good way to look at it.  I will run a search next time.

i used to chat a lot while playing poker. i find it puts me off my game now so i avoid my old poker buddies in an attempt to win more. ive had some crackers who follow me about the tables and ive had to report a couple of people who have called me some nasty names i dont want to repeat. there are some real creeps out there who only want conflict. sometimes i like that though when i need to blow off steam:)
