I never go above about 6 when it is checked at the clinic and my average is always under 6 anyway, so I don't check it. When I told my doctor at the clinic, he was ok with that as long as things don't change. Luckily up until now I have had no complications and only a couple of hypo's in all the time I have been on insulin, so I don't feel the need to bruise my fingers checking my blood if I don't have to :D.

I am always about 5.8 - 6ish. I only start feeling dodgy when it gets lower than that. I don't know about you, but after a while you just know what it is. For example, as I sit here writing this I am fairly sure it will be about 5 to 7, because I had some toast the back of nine and haven't had my night time insulin yet. My Dad is also diabetic, but his control is bad and he struggles to keep it under control.
I have only had one bad incident with a hypo while at work once. I had my insulin before work on the farm and ate a smaller than usual breakfast. It was a very busy day and I was lifting a lot of heavy loads of hay. The next thing I know I was in the Doctors office and looking into the mirror and wondering why the hell I was there and not at work :D. My Boss later said I was talking a load of pish and then sudenly got up and left. I luckily somehow knew what was happening and managed to find my way to the Doctor's office. People must have thought I was wacked out on drugs or something :D. I just couldn't figure out what was happening, it is like being drunk in some ways. lucky it was just before a card was dealt and i got my £500 buy in back also felt a hypo coming on while in bed went to get something to eat but unfortunately was too weak to get into my chair phoned the pub to get someone to come round with some chocolate but they couldnt make out a word i was saying luckly they worked it out and got here gave me some chocolate and a coke and phoned an ambulance as they were scared when the ambulance arrived i was sat up in bed they still took me in for a check up had about 4 or 5 lows mainly when i am sleeping the time in the casino it was so hot i just didnt feel it coming on Title: Re: find out when you will die Post by: Sark79 on October 23, 2006, 12:02:27 AM It is a strange experience. Sometimes I can feel myself getting a bit low while I have been sleeping at night. But one night, I had been out in Ayr at a nightclub and had gone home to a girls house ( purely platonic :D ). I woke up and went through to her kitchen and there was absolutely bugger all in any of the cupboards and the fridge had nothing either. I remembered there was a takeaway along the street, so decided to go and get some chocolate or something. I couldn't find where she had put my shoes or jacket, so slipped on her Disney carpet slippers. When I got back to the block of flats, I had no idea which one I had come from. I ended up sleeping in the hall. It turned out I was right outside the flat I was looking for all night :D. She thought I had done a runner. I never did find my jacket
